Ok... I'm confused
Jeep Wrangler JL Diamond K400 - What am I missing? 1f914

I ordered a Diamond K400 to put on either the hood or tailgate of my 2025 Wrangler Rubicon. I went to do a test fit and it won't fit over the lip on either the hood or tailgate. There appears to be what looks like a bead weld running along the lip and it is too thick for the mount. I tried taking pictures of it on the hood. I loosened the set screws all the way and removed the metal spacer on the mount and the mount won't go over the lip at all.

Am I missing something?

I’ve got two K400’s on either side of my hood.

The K400 has a very narrow opening as it’s intended for skinny doors and lids. Widen the mouth of the opening a bit and it will slide right over the seam sealant.

Squeeze the mouth a bit once over the swam and install the screws.

On a side note, the allen screws are crap and strip easily. I replaced them with threaded bolts from Home Depot.

Thanks! I wasn't sure if that would affect the mount strength. Good tip on the set screws

I tried to open up the mount and was able to get it open a little, but it's not even close to fitting.

I think I'll just go with a cowl or fender mount, or a spare tire bolt mount. I was going that the K400 would allow me to easily test different antenna locations

The seams are too thick on the tailgate for the K400 but they fit fine on the hood.

It is the same on my hood, unfortunately. I tried that the other day and again today and it isn't even close. The picture in my original post is the hood.
