I picked up my new 2023 JLU Willys 2.0T XR last week. I'm loving it. I'm starting to figure out all the dash and U-connect stuff and getting it set up how I want it. It isn't too difficult (although getting the dash set up and making changes is still a little challenging to get it on the first try).

However, I wanted to connect my Android phone to the U-Connect so I could listen to Pandora (70's soft rock) and see what other apps I could get to pull up from my phone to the Jeep's screen (like GAIA). Per the Jeep's instructions, I downloaded Android Auto on my phone, but my phone says "Can't run Android Auto on this phone". The instructions that came with the Jeep said I needed version 6.0 at least, and my phone is a version 7.0. You'd think it would work.

So I went to the T-Mobile store and spoke with a very nice lady. I guess my phone is just too old. It has the latest updates, so that isn't the issue. I think they're up to version 13.0 now.

I guess I'm a dinosaur (I'm only 62), and my phone (Samsung Galaxy J3 Prime) is an antique. Will be getting a new phone later this week.

I'll be the first to say, "Awesome ride!" and good luck with it.

In 1987 I got a used 1973 Buick Century. It had an AC Delco AM/FM 4 speaker stereo with an 8 track tape player. So I had to go get a 20 dollar cassette adapter for it. (So I could play all my Motley Crue tapes). I never thought I'd have to buy a new phone after buying a new car! ???

My Apple phones have all worked well in my 21 JLR with the Alpine upgrade.

I can neither confirm nor deny rumors that I may have owned a large box of 8 track tapes. I may or may not still have a decent size box of cassette tapes. Oddly, I no longer have a player. WTF am I keeping them for? And don't even start talking about VHS.

I'm running a decent phone that has a good camera, good memory and functions, and a really good battery that's still under $300. Motorola Moto-G Power. We have a pair of them, and they both work great. Picked them up on sale for $250/each when a battery in my wife's Moto Power G7 died suddenly. Those were a great deal also 3 1/2 years ago, $220/ea. I run OnX for offroad nav, music, OBD diagnostics, and soon going to run Alpha OBD for all the FCA products.

Congrats, very nice. I wish the XR package would have been available when I got my 2020 Sting Gray JLUR. It has more tech & features than I have ever owned. My Galaxy S8 works okay with it. My wife's 2 year old I-Phone works a lot better.

I went from my 1990 Toyota 4x4 with no power options & a AM/FM cassette that I installed back in '93, it doesn't work any more. Kept the truck though, will teach my grandkids how to drive a 5-speed & how to work on cars with it.

You are going to love the Jeep, mine has been awesome! Welcome to the madness!

I have a modern Samsung phone running Android.

My Jeep runs android auto.
I use it for maps, phone calls and TXT messages.

On my desktop PC I have Apple iTunes. I have bought songs.
I used "copy and paste" to copy songs to my phone.
If I try to play the songs through Android auto, Google does not allow it. I refuse to pay a subscription to "Youtube Music" to play my songs.

So, instead, I copy and paste the songs to a USB stick and then play my songs through Jeep Uconnect.

When I am walking, I play the songs on my phone via a third party app.

It's ok, I turned my iPhone 6s into a Carplay only device after Mint Mobile said it wasn't compatible with their network. Surprisingly, it works just fine as a music only device in my Wrangler. Not sure if this says more about how OLD Uconnect is vs how compatible the phone is lol

Only reason why I've kept it so long is I refuse to update iTunes. I hate the tile interface their moved to along with the Apple Music stuff.

It's only a matter of time before I'm sure I'll be forced to switch to USB drives to play music in my vehicles...I'll still refuse to update iTunes ?

My 5-1/2 year old iPhone X is still going strong.

My daughter's 8-1/2 year old iPhone 6 is hanging in there with a new $29 battery installed at apple after battery-gate.

I'm convinced Apple phones last longer. Both of these phones are still getting updates. The iPhone X is running the latest version of iOS.
