I turned off Passive Entry (proximity locks) in Control/Settings and now I've turned it back on but my key fob is not unlocking the doors like it did in January before I turned it off.

How can I get Passive Entry turned back on effectively. What I did was a "restart" in Control/Settings that put all settings back to stock, and Passive Entry shows up as checked âś” in the menu again. But my fob doesn't unlock the doors when close, and the chicklet lot button doesn't seem to lock them either, so maybe it's not turned back on yet, despite that checked box.

the other change I made was using the Threedom Model M for a fob. It operates exactly normal in every other way and the RFID is in there and seems to be working.

I turned them off in the first week back in Jan because I hadn't had this feature before (22 years in a TJ) and it was confusing to tell when the door was locked or not. I'd lock if from the fob button and then check to see if it was locked but when I grabbed the handle to check the passive entry would unlock it, hahaha.

Now I see the advantage of never having to press a fob key, using passive entry to unlock and pressing the chicklet to lock it.

Maybe try a couple sleep cycles? If that doesn’t work try a battery/batteries disconnect. Let it sit for a few hours.

a sleep cycle is just when the Jeep has been off for a while?
Maybe you're right that resetting the console alone might not be enough to get the door handles to recognize the fob/RFID maybe?
Looking at the user manual, it looks like disconnecting the main 12v battery terminals, disconnects the lower ESS 12v battery below it too(?).

To disconnect both batteries use a 13mm to remove the nut circled in red and bend that cable up out of the way, make sure it is not touching anything. Then use a 10mm to disconnect the terminal circled in yellow, make sure it isn’t touching anything and wait a few minutes and reconnect. Everything will reboot and reset.

Now it doesn't list Doors and Locks in the Settings menu. The line that listed Lock preferences and Passive Entry is not there now.
disconnected the battery for a while and reconnected. When I powered it back up, the display writing was now blue (used to be red--because Rubicon?).

Give it some time to reboot and recognize all the hardware. Takes a bit to come back to normal after a battery disconnect.

thanks, you're right. The red screen menus came back but still no recognition of the Passive Entry/Proximity locks. It's checked/turned on in the menu.

The way I'm testing it is I press the chiclet button to see if it locks the door. doesn't. Then I try the proximity lock to see if it unlocks the door like it did before I turned it off.

If I am reading correctly, you are trying to do two things at once; Turn on proximity locks, and use a new fob, correct?
Have you tried your old fob to see if it locks and unlocks the doors? If it does, it's your new fob. If it doesn't, there's likely an RF signal problem with the Jeep ... I have no idea how you solve that as it's likely something in the CANBUS.

right, you should not introduce two variables at once. I'll try the old fob.
The new Threedom Model M fob functions exactly as the old one did (and contains the RFID chip) so I've assumed the RFID is functioning normally. But I should test it and try the OEM fob to see if the doors recognize it now.

Tried the OEM fob and it's the same. Does not seem to access passive entry / proximity locks. No difference from the Threedom Model M fob

Well, that's a head scratcher isn't it? Has to be something with the vehicle's communications bus that is not functioning correctly, or at all.

haven't figured it out yet.
I did set up Jscan and get it working to successfully re-set tire size for 35s.

From what I read here, I thought maybe I need to turn proximity locks back on using Jscan (or Tazer) that can find the right switch that's been turned off, when I (regrettably) turned proximity locks OFF on the JLR dash screen settings.

There are several categories of switches listed in Jscan that may relate to proximity locks. I haven't taken the time yet to figure out which is the switch I need.

Do you have ideas for me or are you in the same boat looking for a solution for this?

p.s. On Jscan I did follow directions to turn off the tail light warning alert--installed flush tail lights. On side is successfully turned off but the other side keeps giving the tail light alert at every start. That one side is listed as off on the Jscan menu but still gives alerts.
