Hello guys,

Any updates if the yellow wire can power a dashcam when the Jeep is on?

question ? i soldered the yellow and red wires together. i bought a used but looked like new visor from ebay. the vanity light works now ,when i first hooked up the garage door open with two outside buttons pushed for 30 sec it flashed but after that the vanity light still works but i get nothing out of the gdo. could i have one that does not use 12volts and i fried it jumping the two wires together the red and yellow ?

Make sure the yellow is capped off going to the plug on the Jeep. Yellow is pulling power from red wire and only goes to the visor. You do not want it feeding power back to plug. Like this pic

i looked at the plug it did even have the yellow just the red and black that was with my jeep the visor had the three wires y r blk i cut the yellow and soldered it to the red and taped it up but oem plug on my jeep only had red and blk

You should be fine then. Do the reset on the Homelink then set to your garage. I don’t remember the reset procedure, sorry

Years ago on another forum a guy hardwired his garage door open behind a dash panel and tapped into the headlights high beam wire to trigger the opener. All he had to do was flash the high beams to operate the opener?

my problem now is the red light doesnt flash any more , i got it to flash when i first hooked it up. the vanity light which is still working but the gdo doesnt seem to be operating now

Well it could be a little bit of a pain in the a$$, but I would check to make sure your splice is still holding. The red works the vanity light and you didn’t cut that one ?‍

yea but i soldered the connection and it was a good solder . when i unwrapped the visor he had used what looked like cling wrap there was droplet of water on the visor . i think maybe the junk jeep ha been left in the rain.

the red was skinned back just enough to wind the yellow around and then soldered . ive send a email to the seller asking for a replacement .if not i guess i contact ebay for help. his add said it was fully tested . i dont see how in a wrecked vehicle. will try and keep you posted
