2024 wrangler x v6. My hill decent control is making a clicking noise. I have a dealer appointment in a week. Anything to check?

Every time I've tried to use hill descent control, I've ended up cancelling it and using manual hill descent control (right foot on brake) because the racket from the ABS system is beyond annoying.

I believe hill descent control to be better on brake pads, as it can cycle the brakes on/off hundreds of times per second, which likely reduces heat and wear.

But for a few hundred extra miles out of my brake hardware to use HDC, it isn't worth the obnoxious noises from the ABS to me...

I think I used it once on one of my previous jeeps, just went back to using 4lo. If I remember correctly, did make a bunch of noises as someone else mentioned.

I used by descent control yesterday coming down a snowy slope at 11,000 feet. I didn’t notice any noise, but it could’ve been because I was hyper-focused at the time. 🤗

From the manual

“HDC is intended for low speed off-road driving while in 4WD Low. HDC maintains vehicle speed while descending hills during various driving situations. HDC controls vehicle speed by actively controlling the brakes.”

Not sure why you are using it while ascending (moving up) a hill when it’s specifically designed for descending (moving dow) a hill.

Is that from the digital or printed manual? 🙃

If your hill decent is staying engaged while your foot is on the throttle (to climb a hill), you definitely need it checked out.

When activated, hill descent is only supposed to function when your foot is off the accelerator. If your Jeep tries to go faster than commanded. It’ll pulse the brakes to maintain speed while ensuring minimal wheel skidding. If it’s applying your brakes while you’re pushing the accelerator, that’s definitely a problem.
