I don’t have measurements but unless you are going to replace the resonator on the exhaust it’s self there is no way you could add another muffler. I have been thinking to save the loss of purchasing a good muffle to put in place of the resonator but I don’t know if it would help out much.

Thanks. Your photo of the actual part varies from the photo that they show. The mid pipe isn’t mostly straight like the marketing photo shows. That’s where I thought I might be able to place another muffler but in reality it’s not a long straight section as shown.

Yeah it’s mainly the resonator which I don’t think is anything but a straight through canister, I may replace with a magnaflo muffler or I might mess with a helmholtz resonator so I can salvage the exhaust but we will see.

So to follow up on this, sounds great driving around town but man when you are on the freeway this thing is a nightmare. I mean the drone is mind numbing, I have had a tomei titanium exhaust on a Sti with e85 and this exhaust made that seem tamed. The positive about this exhaust is the power you get from getting rid of the stock muffler is definitely there and is almost worth the ride but yeah I’m back to stock and selling this exhaust I may be to old for this one lol. I listed for sale if some one in Dfw wants a good deal let me know.
Yep, that's been my experience as well. One thing I thought about doing was putting the resonator back where the it belongs and then putting the AFE muffler after it. That might take the edge off. Don't know if all of that will work or I just might run down to a muffler shop and see what ideas they have.

I think maybe a muffler where that “resonator” is would maybe quiet it down a lot bc I really think it’s just a straight pipe. I may try this out

Let me clarify...
The AFE exhaust removes the factory muffler and resonator and then in place of the resonator it puts it's own muffler. I'm saying shift the AFE muffler towards the rear and put the resonator back in.
On my wife's Jeep I took the muffler off and just ran the resonator by itself and that sucked.

Oh ok I see what your saying but would there be room? The afe resonator is massive?

That's the question.

On my wife's Jeep I have the Hooker Blackheart and she loves it. Just barely louder than stock unless you jump on it and then it's a mild growl. The biggest plus is it's up out of the way. She was destroying the factory saggy diaper on the rocks... lol and they look soooo ugly.

How about power wise? Is it a cat back or a axle back, I would love to have a better flowing exhaust but not at the risk of losing significant heating abilities lol.

My Jeep is stick and I do like the sound of the AFE around town. There is one problem though, if I'm not paying attention to the RPMs when I have the music cranked. You can't hear the exhaust over the music and if I wind out over 4k rpms I look like that douche bag that hangs out in the HS parking lot 3 years after he graduated... lol.

It's an axle back as it only replaces just the factory muffler and I can't say as I have noticed any loss or gain. The size of the muffler is 1/3 of a stock one so if anything it is allowing more flow which is a good thing.

I'm half tempted to pop my wife's resonator off and straight pipe it so I can hear her muffler on it's own. I bet you it would sound great.
I bet you I'm the only one on the forum that can claim he bought his wife a Hooker for her birthday ;)

Got the Magnaflow Street Series Dual exhaust installed, much more "mature" sounding exhaust vs. the Dynomax delete, softens the rough edges in the overall tone but still lets you know you've actually got a motor under the hood when you get on it. Not the highest clearance exhaust but tucks well up in the area where the stock beer keg used to be, very high quality fit & finish, and very stout hangers vs. most others on the market.

In the past I have bought Borla exhausts from Summit Racing
Not recently
Bought my Borla Touring climber from Summit Racing. Couldn’t be happier with the purchase. Just a little louder than stock and tucked up nicely.
