I had Safelite install non OEM windshield (cheaper) and it whistled like a tea kettle. Took it back and learned they had several complaints and turned out is was bad glass. It had been curved incorrectly so it did not set correctly with the curvature of the jeep window near the top, thus the whistle. They upgraded to the OEM glass and all was great.

I once had a brand new car whose windshield whistled at higher speeds. I was surprised to find that it was caused by the rubber trim not being seated properly.

In my Jk I was winching my self out once, and at some point during the process I heard a distinct crack, not super loud but loud enough to hear. I couldn't tell where it came from so I didn't really think anything of it. Immediately after that there was a whistle starting at about 30-35 mph. It was annoying but as Roky suggested I just turned up the radio.

I kind of thought the whistling was from the windshield seal, but I couldn't tell where. A few months after the whistling started I got a crack in my windshield. But as I normally do with a cracked windshield I procrastinated getting it fixed. Finally after about 18 months my wife bugged me enough to get the windshield replaced becasue of the crack. After replacing the windshield the whistling was gone.

I always thought it was weird that winching myself out tweaked the Jeep enough to break the seal of the windshield.
Chris, maybe it was because your Jeep flexed past the tolerance of the windshield, while winching?

Thomas, that is EXACTLY what happened with my windshield! The manager confirmed that I was correct that the improperly installed molding was the cause.

Yeah that's kind of what I figured. But until I got the windshield replaced I didn't know where the whistle was coming from, I suspected the windshield seal, but I had a hard time believing I could have stressed the frame enough to damage the windshield seal. I just wish I wouldn't have waited so long to replace the windshield.
