This could be a great Jeep for a project that someone wanted to do axles and cage on if it's not fixable.

I gotta say that as much as I might be tempted to try to make my Jeep whole again... if I rolled it as you did I'd always be worried that there was some small thing that didn't get noticed/fixed that reared it's ugly head a few thousand miles down the road.

Ok DonMontolvo - you don't need to get too bent out of shape about it ha ha. I was lucky enough in bc to buy a small negative equity policy that will pay out the gap between what I'd lose and what it takes to replace it. I'd prefer that but it depends also on if it's not a big bend. I shall report back to everyone. and honestly I'm appreciative of all the input.

Apparently in BC if it's a write off I an apply to get it back as a salvage. that would be sweet...

I hear ya, we have GAP here that does the same thing. Some lucky person might buy it as a salvage.

Glad yo
Thanks for all your replies. In BC, the good 'ol Insurance Corporation of British Columbia will assess it. I'll report back. As for what happened, since I'm not in receipt of any payouts or plans for fixing, I'll report the actual adventure once the deal is in motion. Anti Jeep spies are known to frequent these parts, ha ha. I live on a ranch so being off road isn't a big deal. And as an example of "you should always be prepared", I stopped and assessed, grabbed my gun, sleeping bag, small tarp and city bag of essentials and walked down the road about a KM and bunked down. Caught a ride out the next day. No cell service up there and the phone flew out the window. But I had multiple lights and means of being ok in the dark.
Glad you are ok. The Jeeps just a machine-it can always be replaced if need be. People not so much. Kudos to you for being prepared. Way too many folks take off into the toolies without being prepared fora worst case scenario. Wilderness/remote areas do not tolerate fools, and a failure to prepare can be at best “uncomfortable” and at worst “ deadly”.

THE MOMENT (SOME) OF US HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR..
.
1. Thanks for the input. Seriously.
2. That roll bar area bent far enough that no body shop wants to touch it and the Canadian BC Insurance Co ("ICBC") looked at enough pics and declared it a total loss.
3. I looked at other vehicles and sure as snot I only want the same jeep. Call me sentimental. Nothing else interests me.
4. I am looking at trying to get the jeep as a non repairable vehicle because it has so many untouched parts on it it's almost criminal to abandon it - Anybody ever keep a newer wreck? I wonder if I can make tube doors/half doors right out of real doors...
5. I'll post multiple pics here if it allows me.
6. Is it worth trying to swap onto the jeep I'm looking at more of the goodies that came with the wrecked one? This includes the tow package, auxiliary switches, better rims (they are actually Gladiator take-offs), sub and amp, aftermarket bumper, winch, etc.
7. Should I just move on?
8. For the record, it's way, way more steeper than it looks. I was on all fours climbing up. Some of us want to be able to tell that big fish story and have the pics to show it. I'm happy I'm not hurt. And boy oh boy the inconvenience of all of this is really eye opening as well. Cheers all. /kh.

@Shibadog - Amen to that. Also had solid first aid kit, etc. I don't usually think about flying projectiles. Gonna keep that in mind in the future as well. Thanks for your take on things.

Great!

Were you able to get the salvaged Jeep? That'd be a great build platform for a rock crawler/huntmobile. A friend bought a rolled Suburban many years ago. He used a floor jack and a lot of cribbing to jack the roof out and replaced the glass. We used that Suburban for years to haul people and stuff to and fro his cabin 200 miles away, out in the desert. Never had to worry where you parked it. A couple years into it, some other friends borrowed it and painted it in Army camo. Perfect!

I like roughed up vehicles for offroading. I just hate to rough up a nice one.

The salvage looked to cost about 18k Canadian $. It was in such good condition that it would have been costly. apparently it started right up too. But the autobody shops wouldn't touch it. So if I was a jeep mechanic and wanted a home project this would be about half the cost of a jeep and I would rebuild it and certify it. A high end project I guess. I was hoping like 5k. Oh well. ha ha
