Hi Everyone,
I rolled my jeep (2 times down a ravine and hit a tree) on a forest service road in British Columbia. I was lucky and it looks like the jeep struck just the frame part of the roll bar area on the left side. My question is: in anyone's experience, when parts of the roll bar is bent in and it affects the parts of the roll bar - is the roll bar replaceable or does it cascade into other parts of the jeep? I get that professionals will assess it but I was curious generally about anyone's experience with a JL that is bent like that. Just looking for basic input. I attached a pic.

Glad you made it through in one piece.

The roll bar is part of the body substructure. More than likely it bent right at the points you see and could probably be straightened. It's the mechanicals that will kill you. Were the axles tweaked, etc.

Picture to illustrate what I mean.

I really appreciate the reply! They will formally asses it. I don't know about the axles yet as it went straight to the yard and I work out of town. I'll report back. Many thanks.

We’re glad you’re still with us!!

If I had to bet money on it, my guess is it’s a total loss. I’d be curious to know the outcome. Be sure to give us an update when you know more.

OK, story. We Need the Whole Adventure!! Sorry, just like to hear what happened to make this damage. Happy that you're ok after the roll. The body doesn't look too bad given what happened to the roll/sport cage. I would say get the frame, etc. checked to make sure nothing else was tweeked out of place. Also happy to see that it held up so well. It may be fixable, but who knows with how insurance is these days. Best of luck, keep us informed. ? If the insurance decides to total it out, take a look at the gang on here that has taken a "total" and made it into a perfect, lovable Jeep again. It's amazing what some of this group has done with total loss vehicles!!

First off, glad you will be OK.
As new as the Jeep is, I'm guessing that's fixable depending on whatever unseen damage was done.
It's amazing what a good body shop can fix.

Thanks for all your replies. In BC, the good 'ol Insurance Corporation of British Columbia will assess it. I'll report back. As for what happened, since I'm not in receipt of any payouts or plans for fixing, I'll report the actual adventure once the deal is in motion. Anti Jeep spies are known to frequent these parts, ha ha. I live on a ranch so being off road isn't a big deal. And as an example of "you should always be prepared", I stopped and assessed, grabbed my gun, sleeping bag, small tarp and city bag of essentials and walked down the road about a KM and bunked down. Caught a ride out the next day. No cell service up there and the phone flew out the window. But I had multiple lights and means of being ok in the dark.

Hi Everyone,

I would doubt any insurance company wants to be on the hook for future safety issues on a vehicle that rolled over twice.

Glad you're OK bud. That being said if you rolled the jeep down a revine I'd just take the insurance payout and buy another one. Even if you managed to get it fixed you'll have weird issues for the life of the vehicle

Yep I agree but it is hard to tell without seeing the rest of the damage. The big deal is book value verses repair cost. Insurance companies get good money out of late model low mileage vehicles and don't have to deal with possible law suites.

My first Jeep was totalled, because the frame was bent too far to be bent back, and because there was a crack at one of the bends. The shop didn't want to be liable for bending an extremely bent frame back into shape.
