Help: How to determine lift size

Hi,
I just recently purchased a used 2021 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon. It came with 37s, Fox performance series shocks, and what appears to be a decent size lift. The dealer didn't give me any specs but said the prior owner did some mods to it. Is there a way to try to figure out how many inches it's been lifted? Thanks.

the quickest easiest way would be to measure from the edge of the Fender Flares to the center of the Hub on each corner. looks like yours has the Hi-Line Fenders already (as would be typical for a Rubicon).
you would (of course) need to get the specs of the height of a stock vehicle similar to yours to compare this against.

but just looking at where the bottom of the rocker panel seam is relative to the center of the bubs, i'm guessing that's 3+".
let's see what we get from some more experienced members!

Measure from top of the axle to the bottom lip of the upper coil housing like in the pic…… the stock rubicon is 11-1/4” ish, give or take a 1/4”, whatever your measurement is minus the 11-1/4 is how many inches of lift you got….

The springs look like Rock Krawler triple rate springs and the front bump stops look like JKS aluminum bumps for JK but not sure, just from looking at your pics. The control arms look stock, but can’t see if they have drop brackets or cam bolts on them… if not then you should address your caster it will drive a 100% better….

If you take some pics of the track bar and sway bar links, I might be able to narrow it down to what lift you have….Are the Fox shocks 2” or 2.5” diameter ??

Hi Roky, i don’t have any history on our “new to us” 2020 JLR, so I followed your suggestion, and measured 13.25 inches. That would suggest a 2 inch lift? Thanks!

That photo I posted is based on a 4 door Rubi….. I’m not sure of the factory measurement on a 2 door…. If you could find one to measure, or find someone to get the measurement for you then you’d know for sure, but looking at your photos, I’d say you got 2-2.5” of lift…. Looks like a MC lift, so that’s a bit confusing because MC notoriously lifts a bit higher than advertised…….

If you could find one to measure, or find someone to get the measurement for you then you’d know for sure, but looking at your photos, I’d say you got 2-2.5” of lift…. Looks like a MC lift, so that’s a bit confusing because MC notoriously lifts a bit higher than advertised…….

It’s the same, 11.25 +/-. My 2dr SportS was a hair over 11.

A sport is gonna be shorter, at least on the 4door….I measured 10-10.25 on a Sahara….. so if you’re saying a 2dr sport S is 11 ish then Rubi 2dr should be an inch ish higher…..I don’t know for sure, I mainly work on 4 doors….

@Jtphoto measured a bunch and they averaged 10 7/8.

I measured a bunch of similarly specced ones at a dealer from the ground to the middle of the Trail Rated badge and the Rubicons were ~1.25” taller but some of that is tires, build variability, ground variability, etc. Didn’t check spring numbers so who knows, supply constraints could also have two Jeeps with the same build sheet getting different springs if they were/weren’t available. Who knows, maybe my Jeep didn’t have the “correct” springs, I never checked the part numbers.

To take the tire size out of the equation you have to measure only the the suspension components as per the diagram.
There will be variations of course, like those with max tow, the rear is higher which affects the rake. Some Saharas (but not all) seem to have more rake and a bit lighter spring in front for a smoother ride.

The only ppwork we got with it, was for the rims and tires, otherwise I’ve been researching and figuring out each mod one at a time. The only ppwork we got with it, was for the rims and tires, otherwise I’ve been researching and figuring out each mod one at a time. I agree. Metalcloak from all that gold zinc plating and the progressive wound spring.

BTW, my Metalcloak GC 3.5" lift is 14 3/4" at the front, axle to spring socket lip. (about 9 months after installation)
