Heated Steering Wheel - It can be done.

I bought a steering wheel from LKQ and they won’t sell clocksprings as they are always broken during disassembly. I hope you get lucky on that one. New ones are NOT cheap! A big part of the reason I didn't put a heated wheel in mine.

Oh, and there are screws under the trim piece between the clock spring and dash.

Well, that's gotten me almost there I think in terms of getting mine off. Finally popped the leather sheath off and got the bottom screw. The second on top is hidden below this shroud.

I think my issue is how these two pieces connect and separate, if I can pop them apart the screw should be fair game and then hopefully the whole sccm.

Yep, tight fit. Think I've got four screws left to get the back shell off and then the last big screw.

How did you check when installing yours? The center of mine can rotate maybe 15 deg each direction.

IIRC it should go about three turns in each direction before it gives resistance, if you go past that resistance it is rendered junk. What usually happens to used ones is the steering box/rack gets disconnected and it is spin-o-ramma time.

Got it, I'll plan to compare with my current one when I go to swap. Still hoping there is some OE way to disconnect the airbag wiring and reuse my own good harness. The idea of trusting my own crimps for the airbag not to blow my face off isn't my favorite.

Anyone know if a 22/23 heated leather wheel will bolt up to a 24 with no other issue? I’m starting to not like 24not leather but leather like wheel. And can I swap the adaptive cruise buttons onto a non adaptive wheel

Buttons should swap no problem, they disconnect from the steering wheel wiring and then some screws hold them onto the front trim plate once you separate that from the wheel itself. Your heated wheel would go right on, but if you don't have any of the modules or wiring harnesses already, it wouldn't heat.

I've got a 21 Gladiator and have been reading this post to potentially add the hated seats and steering wheel as well. Will I need to purchase a new clock spring along with the hated steering wheel that specifically includes the heating option, or is it not that specific?

Yes you will need a clock spring, there are different versions for hardtop/softop and heated wheel.
