Last update for this project...

All completed..... Last heating pad came in yesterday for the seats

All I had to do was remove seats, install pads, install seat harnesses, and reinstall seats. The Seat heaters actually work faster in her cloth seats than my leather seats..... great addition for those of us who jumped out of perfectly good airplanes in our younger years and now have lower back pain.

I want to thank RAMSTEEL and Gregj for posting the journey and documenting the how to.

The piggyback harness was the hardest part but once it was completed and installed the rest was plug and play.

This was a great Christmas present for the better half that will be enjoyed by all . all of my used parts seem to be selling so i am at least making some money back....to spend on other projects lol.

Sort of on topic, I am trying to track down a similar but different problem. I recently swapped in a 20th anniversary Rubicon heated wheel and its not getting anywhere close to warm. Is the CSWM module what controls the steering wheel temperature? My Jeep is a 21 and the wheel is from a 23 so I don't know if I need to swap the module for the newer unit. Any help is appreciated.

Since this is pulled back up, my question is...

Has anybody added the heated steering wheel without doing all the modules? Just using a Jeep heated wheel and an aftermarket switch.

I added a universal seat heating kit some time ago. Now I would kinda like the heated steering wheel also.

Is the CSWM module what controls the steering wheel temperature? My Jeep is a 21 and the wheel is from a 23 so I don't know if I need to swap the module for the newer unit. Any help is appreciated.

My '23 wheel doesn't get as warm as an older one ,'20 or '21, did. It may be an adjustment for the year

I've (hopefully) ordered almost all of the parts - steering wheel, comfort module, upgraded dash panel, steering column/clockspring(?), and the wiring for the seats - just need the harnesses for steering wheel and under dash, along with the heat pads. Planning to replace my head unit and swap my ac vents while I have the whole thing opened up back there.

I have already upgraded the stereo unit from 7" to 8.4", I have the heated steering wheel from a 2019 Rubicon (not installed), OEM heated tan leather Sahara seats from a 2018 Sahara (installed), I have the heated HVAC dash unit (installed), & I have the clockspring. I only need the harnesses with the correct wiring to connect it up.

Here is what is puzzling to me; if you have a VIN from a similar Wrangler that had heated seats and steering wheel, why can't they look up the harness for that particular vin/Wrangler and slap it together and send it on to be installed. That is something Jeep needs to do better. You would think they would set there vehicles up to be upgraded fairly easily. That is easy money for them.

No, GregJ and others have posted pictures of the comfort module in this thread. Black box with four ports, and typically the scrappers you buy one off of will just snip the wiring harness and leave the pigtail plugged into them.

The module under the dash that is in-between the wheel, & the seats, & the HVAC control module. Unsure why I forgot about that piece.

The HVAC Control is not entirely necessary, you can control the seats and wheel from the radio. That is how I do it on mine, I have the HVAC Control but it has too many buttons that would be unused (the it button and the steering wheel, my jeep is a manual transmission).

Yes, you are correct. I came across it for really cheap, and said duck it, it can't hurt. Just need those two harnessess and I am good to go.

Started my next steps on this, tearing into the steering column I ordered for the clockspring and wiring. Planning to harvest the heated steering wheel connectors as well, since if I remember right my carbon fiber swap is just bare wire ends. Anyone know which of these are positive/negative?

Had to pack it all back up after getting as far as disconnecting all the steering wheel wiring. Thing reeks of cigarette smoke and for some reason they included the wrecked Jeeps key I loaned my coworker my torque wrench yesterday knowing full well I'd need it today, so looks like I'm going to have to make a tool run and keep cracking.

Update, was able to get the wheel off the spring, but now stuck with getting the spring off the column. How did y'all get past this? No good info online for this step that I can find. Also, the caveman that salvaged this tore up the clockspring connectors to the airbag. Hoping I can transfer the wires from the old to the new?

You could order a new clock spring. Might be easier than going through all that trouble. Let me know how the wiring from the steering wheel to the module & the seats to the module then to the HVAC / Infotainment center console works out for you. I may have to do it the old fashioned way. How much was the salvaged vehicle? is it the same year as your wrangler?

I'd ask @Gregj or @Madtom before me as they've already done that step and both have pictures. Hell, for what it's worth I'm going to have to ask them too - do you guys have any extra guidance on these bits?

Gotcha, I have seen a few wrecked Jeeps and wondered if it would be cost effective to strip everything that could be salvaged, use what I want and sell the rest off and scrape what is left to make your money back.
