Was it hard to rip open the dash to install the 12V ? How much did you pay?

$30 for the Quadratec part and another 10 for the hardwire kit. Detailed instructions were provided and it only took about 20 minutes. Not difficult at all.

Can you link the hardwire kit?

Thanks,

any chance you can tell me how you routed it up to your windshield? (From the passenger footwell to where)
I started at the dashcam and worked backwards tucking the cable into the molding around the windshield. The end piece of the dash on the passenger side can be removed allowing the cable to be routed to the foot well area. I secured any extra cable and then it all gets covered by the carpet.

Was that the only piece needed to be removed? The part next to the passenger grab handle?

Thread revival here. I have a nextbase dashcam, and have their hardwire kit which includes a fuse tapper, which I can either tap into a fuse that is switched (ignition), or one that is always on. Kit includes a minimum voltage check that cuts off if it becomes too low. Their cutoff is 11.0V, is that too low of a cutoff for our battery?

If I do want to continue to wire it to be permanently on for parking mode, can I wire the red wire directly to the battery wire that is in the aux switch loom in the passenger footwell? If I do need to instead fuse tap it, does anyone know which fuse is active all the time that I can tap into?

Much appreciated

@m3lover1

I will avoid your " Their cutoff is 11.0V, is that too low of a cutoff for our battery? " question...
Why avoid the ? --->well, JL is a problem child lets say battery(s) wise, so I won't fathom a guess as it may come back and bite me in the ass so to speak.

As for the 12v always on power source... Well since you have the direct to battery wire in the foot well, thanks to Aux Switches, sure you can use that. By the way, it is fused @ 10 amp, so your Cam will be10 amp protected...

Another easy way to get that 12v always on power (especially is no Aux Switches) is to use the @CoolTech offering, that will give you always on power right at the cigarette lighter. Cost $25 for kit, but will be easier then getting the 12v from the battery/a fuse tap.
I mean you are right there near the cigarette lighter anyway....

If you want to do a fuse tap, you can use fuse 57, 58 that are for driver and passenger, heated seats or 52 which is for the cigarette, lighter.
