Was going to install a dash cam in my 2025 jeep wrangler. I was thinking of hooking up to the aux wires in the cabin by passenger foot well.I know I can hook up to a battery , ignition ground but was wondering if it would be a good idea to have it switched in case I don't use it for extended period. The kit does have low voltage cut of on it .But if i were parking for a week thought it might be a good idea to shut it of completely. Wondering what others have done if it was a good idea or not. Thanks In advance.

I recently won the Wolfbox G900 Tripro in a giveaway they were doing. They included an optional wiring harness kit that allows you to plug directly into the fuse box cleanly to power the unit in switched mode so that it won't drain the battery. I'm looking forward to testing that out when I have the time to run everything through the firewall, but it's a great kit that most likely would work with another dash cam setup. Here's the link:

WOLFBOX Dashcam Multifunctional Hardwire Kit for G900TriPro

I also noticed on the same page you can click on a version that plugs into the OBD port for power. Interesting!

Their comprehensive installation instructions talk to various wiring scenarios that may or may not work for your application, but may give you some ideas:

Mine is plugged into the OBD2 port using a Garmin power harness. Has three settings to power off after ignition is turned off, 10 mins, 24 hours, or always on. Works great as long as you don't have a permanently installed Tazer.

Since I have a fuse block (RigRunner) already installed for my Ham radio, I run power from that through a toggle switch to my dash cam. That way I can select power either on or off to the camera with the vehicle on or off.

Yes that was my question , is it switched and is there an advantage to having it switched.

I have the AUX buttons. Along with the buttons comes the wiring. I wired my dashcam into #5. This way the dash cam wasn't a drain ... until I start the Jeep.

I have an LED light and dash cam installed to my footwell auxiliary switches. I used the direct to battery and ignition wires. I've left mine sitting for a week and have had no problems with OEM batteries which are less than two years old. Having it switched may make you rest easier. With the ability to run in different configurations. Be sure to test each aux wire. There are some in which the ignition and aux 3 are swapped.

I've used the power adapter that was posted by @lsufan. It's a little more difficult to install on a post 24 Jeep but it works well on the front and rear 12v outlets.
