Hi folks,

I recently bought a 2019 Wrangler Unlimited Sport with the Halogen lights, and you can probably know it, I can barely see at night!

I am desperately in need to change them and I am in the process of doing my homework (watching YouTube videos and reading through all available forums) in order to not only be happy with the outcome, but also only do 1 smart investment.

Putting LEDs bulbs in my halogen cases is not an option. (Thank you).

I've seen many people doing it the right way, buying the Mopar LED kit and taking it to a dealership for flashing later, and although I respect that, we all know that it ends up being ridiculously expensive compared to cheaper and functional options.

I want to opt for aftermarket options, but then I start reading about resistors, flickering lights, crazy flashes, etc. I am scared I buy something aftermarket and that it does not work for me, so I am looking for tips/suggestions on what lights I can buy that are REALLY plug and play with my halogen-set up Jeep.

A really cool dude in Facebook upgraded all his lights off his 2020 Rubicon and took them off before returning it to the dealer (apparently it as a lease). He's now selling everything for a really good price, and I am thinking about getting it all from him, (please see picture attached so that you can have brands and models, for your reference) but again, that fear of maybe them not working properly hits me again. I want to only do one thing and forget about it, pretty much.

What are your thoughts?

For LED headlights, these are the best: True Mods 9", Amazon - $249. TOTAL plug & play. incredibly bright, wide view, nice sharp cutoff for the hi-beam. Might actually be better than factory Mopars costing what, $1500? Note: I don't use the halo, but might try it one day...

My dad installed Raxiom headlights, turnsignals, and possibly tail lights(not 100% sure if they were the same brand or not). We had them done in an afternoon; it was super easy. I would go on a limb and say most HIGH QUALITY aftermarket lights come with resistors installed. I suspect some lights on Amazon will not have them and can be annoying. From my experience, you don't run into the issue with resistors for headlights as much as you do with the turn signals, which do because of the sensors to tell you when a light is out(the system detects a voltage change and thinks it's out when it's just an LED drawing less). IDK if anyone mentioned this, but if you buy turn signal lights, make sure you get ones for the Sport and not Rubicon because the flares are different. Installing aux lights down the road will not be an issue because they do not run on the same circuits.
Thank you very much! I appreciate this!

John, I’m wondering if you saw my previous post saying the same thing about the same lights, also with photos.😂

QUICK UPDATE:

I have just installed everything I bought, and installed it myself. So proud of it by the way.

Tailights are running nicely. Got fog lights and headlights installed today and just waiting until night time to see if they are well configured and everything.

i do have a problem though. I followed all instructions shown in this video for the same headlights:

i wired and connected everything as shown in the video but then the DRLs are not working properly. The Halos go up and then they go off, INCLUDING the turn signal light, and this is ONLY happening on the right side (driver side) when it is all wired up.

what could have gone wrong?

it all works BUT the DRLs. How can I fix this?

I bought a pair of these late last week and installed them. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0CMVL75QD?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title&th=1

They cost $249.99. They are highly reviewed on well-known Jeep YouTube channels.

When researching headlight assemblies on Amazon, I soon learned that pretty much all of them have resistors that eliminate flashing, and the ones with halo DRLs come with a wire harness with a fused tap. It literally takes two to three minutes to install that wire harness.

I am very happy with these lights. By the way, all of the install videos say you must remove the grill to swap out the assemblies, or even to change a bulb. I have a big-ass winch that doesn’t allow me to remove the grill, as it’s all smashed together tightly. I DID NOT remove my winch OR grill, and was able to change the headlight assemblies anyway.

It’s very easy to do. Just remove the plastic retainer pins (all six) along the top of the grill, then in front of each headlight bend the grill out just enough to allow removal and install, and repeat for the other headlight. You can prop it out with an appropriately-sized piece of wood. The grill is very flexible and will bend sufficiently without breaking it or cracking the paint on it. I have done this multiple times on three Jeeps, with no damage.

Could you run the DRL wires directly to one of the AUX buttons in that harness to manually turn the halos on and off?

Hey, so I just installed my lights, and the DRL is not working as it should... tapped into the brown/white wire on the fender (driver's side)... everything is working fine but when on DRLs only, they go on, and off three times, after that, all DRLS are gone, and also the turn signal light on that side (driver's side)... any thoughts?

I don’t have aux switches, but I don’t see why not, as long as the switch you attach it to is fused. Just cut the fused end of the wire off, as it has a fuse box blade plug. IIRC, the fused end of the provided wire replaces a 20 amp fuse inside the box.

Anderson, I am thinking it might be an issue with the vampire clip. I don’t like them; I prefer to cut the wire and wire all three ends together with a wire nut. Alternatively, you could run the white wire to the fuse box (obviously it would require an extension). Do the fender running lights still work after the headlight DRLs malfunction?

I‘m wondering why, in the video, when she installs the passenger-side headlight, she doesn’t show the wire hookup for the turn signal on that side. She doesn’t even mention it, and I don't even see the additional black wire coming off of the headlight assembly.

I feel there is no need to show it in the video. The turn light wire is the green/white one, so that is pretty straightforward. And yeah, all works but when DRLs on, that happens. Will try to put a video down below, hope it uploads:

My only suggestion is, if you have a Tazer, change the headlight setting to LED. I don’t see anything you could have done wrong; as you said, the install is very straight-forward. Before taking mine or anyone‘s advice though, I would call Skyline customer service, if you haven’t already. Good luck, sir.

I feel like easiest (and free) solution for you here is to run the wire to the fuse box.

Or play around with JScan for three hours toggling LED settings back and forth in hopes that it allows them to stay on in this configuration and support tells you to run the wire to the fuse box.

Your time :)

Thank you!

I will wire it to the fuse box and be done with it.
