I have a 392 on the way but it may or may not have Gorilla glass. I can’t figure it out by looking at the window sticker. If it comes with just a regular windshield, I may upgrade it to the Gorilla glass after I take delivery. However, I read on a different forum that someone was having problems doing this because of some warning system sensor incompatibility between the different windshields. Is retrofitting with Gorilla glass not possible on some Jeeps that came with regular glass from the factory?

It's probably just the specific version of the windshield needed.

If you don't get it, I'd wait until you get your windshield damaged enough to replace, then you should be able just pay for the upgrade cost between the two instead of shelling out a grand to replace a perfectly good windsheild.

Good advice on the timing, but…The person on the other forum said the dealer could only find one part number for this Gorilla glass windshield and it wasn’t compatible with the warning system sensor on a Jeep with a stock windshield…. So I‘m at a loss on whether replacing with Gorilla glass would even be possible.

One member had the Gorilla glass and it got damaged. He wasn't impressed with the extra durability.

So the question becomes; is Gorilla glass a meaningful improvement in durability? So, if Gorilla glass will withstand an impact force of XX nm from a sharp cornered rock without star cracking, does that impact durability put it above/outside the statistically expected rock impacts...or is it still within the average of what is actually happening on the road? In the end, am I going to buy less Gorilla glass windshields or the same number? I don't know that answer to that, so I'm sticking with cheap windshields, until someone (even the manufacturer) shows some evidence that it's cheaper to buy Gorilla glass in the long haul.

We have GG with advanced safety, so I'd assume it's out there somewhere.
