2018 JLUR 3.6L ESS without e-torque. 82k miles, mostly highway. Extended warranty just approved replacing my entire engine due to a warping issue - Part # 68423711AA. I know there are some carryover parts (valve covers, oil pan, etc.), so my question is should I have them install anything new instead of carrying it over? I understand it's not necessary for everything to be brand new, but figured while they already have it apart, should I just have them install other new parts as preventative maintenance?

I know any new swaps will be out of my pocket, but with the vast majority of the engine swap cost being covered by the warranty company, I don't mind spending some of my own coin to get the best start possible with a brand new engine.

Also, I'm open to any new break-in tips/advice. Thanks!

More than likely the dealer will get a fully assembled engine with everything on it already.

I'm guessing you'll be getting an entire engine assembly with everything including the serpentine belt driven accessories. It'll be a drop in a plug up install aside from a few minor pieces.

Would your factory (non-extended) warranty have covered it? Aren’t power train warranties for 100K?

Only the hybrid/electric components of a Hybrid, PHEV, or BEV drivetrain. It’s a federal mandate so the 4xe has it.

There is another inflation accelerator. The Federal government forcing manufacturers to provide extended warranties on just one type of vehicle, but we will all pay for that in whatever vehicle you purchase.

Thanks for the replies. It's not clear what all is included with the new engine. I did ask my service advisor for a copy of the parts order as well as what will need to be carried over. Will see what he says. If you look at the parts picture it appears all belt driven accessories and covers are included, but then there's a description note that says some of the covers and other parts are not included...

Also, it's a large Jeep dealership that has done many engine swaps. The service advisor and I have a good relationship, I don't make things difficult for him (hound him everyday or make outrageous demands) and he looks out for my best interest. Guess I'm one of the rare occurrences of having a good dealership nearby.

Out of curiosity, what warped and what was the cause?

Blown head gasket from over pressurization. They think it may have been a pre-ignition issue. Head got warped and there may have been bearing damage as well. They didn’t tear that far down, warranty approved replacing the entire engine based on the head warping. Apparently the aluminum block can warp easily too so they didn’t chance replacing just the head only to have me bring it back with block or bearing issues…costing them more money.

I can't remember off hand if the reman 3.6 motors come with new spark plugs, but that is about the only thing I can think of pending the reman motor doesn't already have new spark plugs. Mopar seems very hit and miss of if the motor has them or not when you open up the box.
