Exactly. Yes there is a difference and looking forward to your further tests. I have not been in FORM for over 6 months and am missing that feeling of having a truly tuned 4xe with power and acceleration that I thought I was getting when I bought it.New here... have had my 4xe for about 3 weeks and experienced what I think is FORM this morning. Loved how both engines were working in tandem. At least, that is how it seemed. I had been driving in all three basic modes (Hybrid, Electric & E-save). I like the electric as I believe that is where the true "power" off-the-line comes from (correct me if I'm wrong). It just seems like better acceleration initially. When I was in E-save or when electric was depleted and using only ICE, the response time and acceleration to highway-speed suffered.
I know we cannot use the screen as an accurate gauge of fuel efficiency but the FORM "felt" better (*performance). Also, it balanced the amount of electric power used with gas so that I was not low or "empty" when I reached work. That means I do not have to pay the premium kWh prices at a charging station and can wait for the ride home where I can charge the battery for 1/2 the price (at least).
When this FORM kicks off, I am going to try the M8 and see how that does. If it works that way, I'll be able to better manage the type of energy used so that I have better performance*. I'll also be able to maximize cost savings by not having to pay premium electric rates. But, as many say, I didn't buy the 4xe for the fuel efficiency (nice benefit) but for the increased hp and torque.
*Performance to me means a better quality drive, Not efficiency. Performance has multiple meanings~
- the capabilities of a machine, vehicle, or product, especially when observed under particular conditions.
- the extent to which an investment is profitable, especially in relation to other investments.
It is hard to explain the noticeable difference but I agree, it just “felt” more powerful.
There’s another thread here about using M8 but that was more for fuel efficiency and I think overall the numbers came the same. I know when I drive in M8 it’s no where near as powerful as it is when it’s in FORM.
