For all the jeep 4xe fan, I was stuck in FORM always on for 2 month. Was able to clear it by driving 3 hrs on the hiway for a trips. But now it's so cold here that the ICE always run no matter what. No error, no message, just too cold for the electric only. I accept the fact that it is too cold and don't blame the car lol. Still love my jeep, use to have a regular 2018 jeep JL so to me. I have same fuel millage in the winter, but more power and torque. ?

At those temperatures you must keep it plugged in , ALL the time when your not driving it . I believe someone posted on another thread once the main battery is below -21 f . The jeep will not start at all until the main battery that powers the jeep is above that temp .

How does that work if you go to work for 8 to 12 hours and don't have access to electricity ?
No idea I won't try haha. But basicly of the inside of your cabin is warm the battery is warm for a bit. Won't go to supper cold right away so you should be good for a few hours. Same of you put a bottle of water in your car will not instand freeze will take a while. Manual say not to leave over night with those temperature. I wish there was a notification via uconnect that say battery is almost at that level for a warning. That way if you are visiting friend or at the mall you could remote start the car to warm up the car.

This FORM is becoming an "issue". I can clear it by letting my Jeep idle in my garage, with door open, after a drive to bring up oil temp. But FORM will come back within a week and I'm getting annoyed with having to let it run once a week to get temp up enough to clear FORM. Jeep really needs to come out with another update to address this. Seems the parameters are too strict possibly? Either that, or just admit the 4xe is not efficient enough to run pure EV in the winter months.

Anytime I hear about fuel getting into the oil , it is a recipe for disaster for ice motor , diesel or gas . I think it is a great idea to have an electric/gas vehicle , but I think jeeps design is flawed for far northern climates . I do hope everyone that has a 4xe is aware of gas getting into the oil because of this design . Again. Gas in your oil pan is a recipe for disaster . It needs to be monitored to make sure the motor doesn't fail prematurely .

This seems to be a software issue (See Edit below). It's cold enough where I live (just below freezing) that every single time I start my Jeep I get this warning. I just filled it up. That's supposed to trigger a reset. It does not. I also drove more than 20 mins on gas just a few days prior to it getting cold. It seems there's some code like:

Python:
def on_startup():
    if is_very_cold() or not form_reset_recently():
        disable_electric()
that should be

Python:
def on_startup():
    if is_very_cold() and not form_reset_recently():
        disable_electric()
The difference is that in the first, if it's cold, electric will be disabled no matter what. In the second, electric will be disabled only if FORM hasn't been reset recently. Easy mistake to make but this should have been caught in testing. Code that isn't covered is broken and I seriously doubt there is much coverage of this vehicle's firmware. It's kinda funny how many bugs there are in particular that insist on running the gas engine when there's no reason to do so. Press the pedal too hard? Oh? You must want to burn the planet! Glory be to the house of Saud!

I absolutely adore my 4xE, but the software issues indicate a sad lack of software QA at FCA. Frankly, they'd be better off open sourcing the firmware. Considering how bad it is the community can probably fix many of these issues and add coverage. It wouldn't exactly be out of place for Jeep either. The hardware is already highly customizable. Might as well let people who understand the implications submit fixes for firmware and UConnect issues cause FCA sure isn't doing it.

Edit: seems the issue in my case might not be software, rather a need of oil change due to recent driving habits.

Thanks for some of the info posted in this thread. We had been stuck in FORM for a week or two, during that time we refueled but since we're only doing short <30 minute trips the Jeep never really had time to get up to temp. After getting home from one of those trips, we left the Jeep running in the driveway while locked to see if it would get the oil temp up high enough. Ambient temp was 40, oil temp was 180 at the start. 20 minutes of idling later, it was up to 206. At about 25 minutes, the jeep shut itself off. I fired it back up, and no more FORM! Took it for an all-electric spin around the block to confirm it's gone for now.

Pointless mode.

I’ve driven mine in gas only mode for over a month and still have not been able to clear it. This included two 30+ mile trips into DC.

I should be able to clear this manually after each fill up. Seems downright wasteful to just idle it for twenty minutes.

And 2 days and 1 trip later we're back in FORM. The programming on this needs to be revised for cold weather

Are you guys actually getting a message or just getting locked out of using electric mode? I havent had FORM yet. But if the temp is below freezing, its hit or miss if the ICE kicks on right away.
