Hi Guys,
Thanks for accepting me into your group.
I’ve recently become the proud owner of a Sahara JL 2018 model & can’t wait to take it out for long country drives, however, I’ve discovered a leak coming from the front differential. Which actually drips down into the side of my front tyres. The leak is not that substantial, but a leak nonetheless.
I’ve taken it to my local guy, who initially thought it might be the casing seal, although we’ve had no joy upon changing this.
His since discovered there is a hairline crack, which is causing the leak.
Unfortunately, I have had no luck in souring a used diff casing or the whole axle with the diff….. New, is it out of the question, as would need to take out a second mortgage….lol 😀
I’m based in UK London and would really appreciate any help on this….. (if you need any of the vehicles spec, please pm me).
Thanks in advance guys 🙏

Since your jeep is likely a Euro model, there may be differences in the details.

You should provide the axle size (Dana model e.g. 35 or 44) and gear ratio.

This will help when people offer solutions.

So, if I understand your description correctly, the axle tube is split/cracked?

The tubes are steel. A good mechanic can either weld it or replace it. If you have the Dana M186 front axle, you can get a used one relatively cheap here, but shipping would be cost prohibitive. Are there wrecking yards there?

My guess would be that if the tube is cracked, it either split at the seem or around a weld. Either of which is fairly simple to have repaired by a competent welder.

Drop be Ed China's shop, that guy can fix anything.
