In my grand Cherokee it never went off unless it had. It would go off when someone would turn quick in front of too but what can we do about that. This option did save me one time a couple of weeks ago.

Mine saved me from an idiot last week. He started to turn right starting from a traffic light, and suddenly stopped dead in his tracks. The Jeep stopped before I could get my foot on the brakes.

In 2000 miles, mine has gone off three times. One time was a false during a torrential down pour, the second time was somebody turning left in front of me rather close and the third time was me shooting up the road to jump into the left turn lane while the other traffic was standing still in the lane I was riding up on. Never experienced any active braking, just the warning so far.

I have trouble with mine when it’s raining. Like today it said Brake and applied the brakes hard. There was no car in front of me and almost hard the car behind me hit me cause of the automatic braking.

Well that ain't good at all Kyle. Was that one of ya'lls original Kansas hellasious downpours that I've been in before. Man, that's some kinda hard rain. I couldn't see more than a foot in front of my car. If it was, that may have been the cause. If not, and it happens again I'd take it to the dealer. That can't be right.

Agreed. I've heard of a few people having issues in really heavy rain, but that shouldn't happen. If working properly, the FCW should shut itself off and give you a notification indicating such. See page 246 of the owner's manual for reference (FCW Limited Warning).

Mine goes off around this one turn. Nothing in sight. I make the right off of this main road in town and it always goes off. No cars ,trees or anything around.

Back in May I almost blasted someone from behind I was jamming out had the music on full blast top down didn’t hear the ambulance coming but the person in front of me did and the forward collision warning kick in.

This is a typical false alarm, just an audible warning but without any reasons. You can hear it at 0:15, clearly no reason for it.

Has anyone experience the Forward collision warning going off without having anything in front of you? I fell mine sometimes goes a crazy at times.
Mine goes off all the time. If I drive more more than an hour, there's a 50/50 chance of it freaking out on me at least once. It's super annoying - juuuust infrequent enough that I'm too lazy to bring it in in the hopes that a firmware upgrade will fix it. Figure next time I go in, I'll mention it. My JL is at almost exactly 2000 miles and it's gone off maybe 10 times for no reason at all.

Hi Everyone,
We're sorry to hear that you are all experiencing troubles with your forward collision warning system. If you decide to visit your dealer regarding this, please send our team a private message and we would be happy to add an additional layer of assistance to this process.

I had an issue when we had a downpour and I had the wipers on its highest settings, the FCW kept going off when the wipers went over the sensors. The rain and visibility were really bad that I don't even remember the last time it rained that hard. Other than that, haven't really had any issues.

BTW, maybe it's the reason why European version cannot get it - too unreliable.
I have to say I will not order the Forward Collision Warning option on my 2020 JLRU. I don't feel comfortable with the technology and am afraid at some point while driving 70-80 mph down the freeway the computer software decides to just slam on my brakes without just cause. Call me old school, but I don't want the vehicle doing my my job of paying attention and driving even if it can react quicker than I can. Just my personal opinion here.

You don't have to be afraid of it. Just set it to audible warnings only and there is no risk that it would start to brake. And the adaptive cruise control is very useful.

^^^ This. While the forward collision is not as accurate as my wife's Grand Cherokee, the adaptive cruise control works just as well. If you do much highway driving, it is very helpful. I also set the forward collision to audible warning only.

Pretty sure the brakes only get applied when under a certain speed, 10mph I believe? So no, it won't suddenly slam your brakes while going 70+mph. It'll give off an audible warning if something is rapidly approaching in front of you. EDIT: the manual states it will go off any speed after 3mph so disregard what I mentioned :)

I would definitely recommend getting it because of the Adaptive Cruise Control. One of my favorite features on the JL.
