I have nearly plowed into several people (like within inches kind of on purpose) and I haven’t gotten so much as an audible warning. It’s been over a month since it triggered. My frustration is that no one from the dealership or jeep can tell me if they system doesn’t work bc it’s been modified and or why it’s not triggering like it should, they can’t tell me where the sensors are located, they seem to have know redeemable knowledge of their product. The tech literally ran over a cone 4 times and hit a human at the dealership yesterday without so much as a warning. And their explanation was ā€œyour bumper doesn’t have park sensorsā€ but the guy who sold me the jeep said ā€œno wrangler has front parking sensors in the bumperā€

do yall understand how I feel like I’m getting the run around?!

I think you are confused on how it is supposed to work. Forward collision warning is not going to keep you from running into someone at parking lot speed. It is to slow you down to lessen impact in a higher speed crash and i don’t think any have parking sensors in the front bumper just the rear

In the five years I've had mine, the system’s gone off about a dozen times. It's always the same situation: if someone is slowing down to turn right and I’m coming up behind them (at what's deemed) too fast, the system flashes a BRAKE warning. I assume if I’m really cutting it close, it would actually apply the brakes. I’ve never been that near, so I just get the alert. And...I keep it set to the most sensitive level because I like the extra peace of mind. I also appreciate the blind spot and backup warnings — each one has probably saved me from a close call more than once. All three have just the right level of intrusiveness IMO.

That said, I'm fairly certain that the actual braking part of the FCW is less "foolproof" than the other two and certainly wouldn't want to test it.

Modified in what way? I haven't seen any mention of modifications. The factory steel bumpers are fine with the system(s). I have them as well.

Assuming the feature is not manually deactivated which would provide a indicator light on the cluster, it should provide a warning and (if selected) preemptive braking.

If the brake sensor is triggered, the feature will not trigger. Meaning, if you're moving at the minimum speed required to apply the feature and it detects possible collision but the brake sensor (driver is applying any amount of brake) is triggered it will not activate.

Possible issue may be that the brake sensor is being triggered without any braking being applied.

Thank you that is very helpful! Yall know more than the dealership and have helped explain quite a bit and ensure that my thinking is correct that the steel
Bumper should have no affect and the system should be in tact. The brake explanation helps quite a bit as I tend to be a more cautious driver and have my foot on or near the brake at any slow down. Thanks!

You're using people on the street as crash test dummies? šŸ¤·ā€ā™‚ļø
