Hey all,

I’ve been lurking and reading for a while, so figured I would introduce myself.

Bought my JLUR about a year ago. Minimal mods so far - 35” tires, AEV Savegre II wheels, mopar performance rock rails, mopar roof rack (that I barely use). But I have loved getting to see all of your amazing jeeps and I’m sure more to come.

Mostly on road so far, but planning a couple trips to Rausch Creek this summer to learn recovery and run some trails.

Have already learned a lot from reading the stuff in this community and looking forward to contributing.

Phil

Welcome aboard from a fellow NJ member! Great looking JLUR there.

Rausch Creek is a great spot to run trails; not sure if you're an experienced offroader or not. I was not until I got my JL a few years ago...still wouldn't call myself "experienced" but I've been out there a few times (101 Course with Off-Road Consulting and a Green Guided ride with the same group) so I've learned a few things and had a blast each time.

Feel free to post on the NJ Roll Call Thread as well and introduce yourself there too! - https://www.jlwranglerforums.com/forum/threads/new-jersey-roll-call.91740/

That’s exactly the group I was planning to go with. Glad to hear it’s worth it. Gonna need the help.
I’ll pop over the NJ thread too. Are you part of the NJ Jeep club? Been thinking I need to join.
Thanks everyone for the warm welcome.

The educators and guides with Off-Road Consulting are excellent, I definitely recommend the 101 Course first as they will teach you how to approach obstacles, how and when to use lockers, hill decent control, and plenty of other things.

I haven't joined the NJ Jeep Club yet, only because I usually find myself busy doing some other project on the weekends (house upgrades, repairs, helping my son with his Mustang project, etc.) and don't always have the time to head out to a meeting or go wheeling. My son and I try to go out a few times a year, but it's a hike from Bergen County.

The off-road 101 sounds perfect for me. Going to try to do that before summer.

Understood on Jeep club. My kids are too young for mustang projects (sounds awesome) but weekends get insane with sports and activities already!

Thanks! I do live in NJ - Princeton area.

The house and property are incredible! But actually belong to good friends. House sits on top of a hill and looks out over farmland and a country club. I was there taking care of chickens and had just got the Jeep washed…so took the pics since the backdrop was so nice.

Sounds great! It's family-friendly too, so depending on how old your kids are, they could go along with you. When my son and I took the course in the fall of 2020, there was a mom in a yellow Sahara with two young daughters (probably 8-10 years old or so) in our group. They all had a blast!

Yeah, it's crazy, trying to do fun grownup stuff and fun kid stuff. I did a lot of the kid stuff when they were younger, but my son (almost 20) is really into cars and Jeeps and that's something I've always enjoyed so it's cool. My daughter (almost 17) has no interest in any of it, so she'll hang out with my wife while me and my son are doing whatever.

Fortunately, off-roading is something kids can get into if they're old enough to bounce around for a few hours and not complain "are we there yet?"

Welcome. Love the white Jeep. The wife wants a white one now.
Sorry…but the heart wants what the heart wants! I try to strategically show my wife things I like that she will also like…
