I'm going to add a question. I have no FOB and only start my Jeep by depressing the start/stop button w/my Threedom key & rfid chip.

I get the "key fob has left the vehicle: along with a chime IF my door is opened after vehicle is already started. Situation usually being I've started the Jeep and then a passenger gets in.

Just curious the reasoning behind this. What is it specifically scanning for once a door is open that it doesn't care about if the door is closed? Does the door open cause it to look for the FOB that isn't there?

That's a really good question. Like you I did the Threedom key with the RFID chip in the pocket of it. It was great for about three weeks until this evening when I went to leave the house and it wouldn't recognize the RFID / key. When I looked closer it looks like the RFID chip is now MISSING. Ugh! How in the world did it come out of that pocket when it was so friggin' tight in there? Really REALLY glad it happened at the house instead of on the road but now I have to get a replacement RFID chip...

Hmm yeah I wonder how it fell out. The chip seems really secure. I've been using mine for about a year and half and had no issues.

Anyone happen to know where I can find that RFID chip? I have the key and the rest of the fob obviously... but that RFID (and reprogramming it) is NOT going to be fun....

But…

Key fob not detected, tried pushing the start button with the fob- nothing. Pushed the lock button second attempt to push start with it and it started working. I replaced the 3 year old battery to be on the safe side, no further problems. But that doesn’t explain why pushing start with the fob didn’t work. 🤷🏼‍♂️

Without the factory fob and its signal amplifier I usually have to push the start button more than once with the bare chip. My guess is that pushing the button without the chip sensed turns up the sensitivity for subsequent attempts.
