Flat towing question

I am looking at the Maximus-3 front tow loops and considering the Roadmaster Nighthawk tow bar set-up. Anybody have any experience running this set-up? Also, do the Maximus Blue Ox bar ends work with the Roadmaster bars? I’ll be most likely use the Roadmaster air brake control in the Jeep, especially since the RV has air brakes. Just want to make sure I’m doing the equiv of the carpenter’s rule…”measure twice, cut once” before I drop the money on a rig.

I flat tow my JLUR with a Roadmaster Nighthawk. I don't think this will be compatible with the Blue Ox bar ends. Any reason why you're not using Roadmaster ends?

Also, the Maximus-3 loops hang pretty low. If you plan on doing any serious rock crawling keep in mind that this will impact your approach angle. The last thing you want is to find that you can't hitch up to your motorhome after scraping your front on a hard trail.

I use a Rock Hard front bumper. Their bumpers are made for flat towing and they have adapters for all the major tow bar brands.

I’m not gonna do much rock crawling, I’m more of an open country, Fire road kinda guy. I bought the Jeep so we aren’t stuck in a camping area without additional transportation and also, so we can explore areas we visit. I’m not an off road guru and most of the time I’ve been off road has been on deployments. I’d rather explore an area than take a chance rolling my rig.

I have these tow loops and they work great with the ReadyBrute tow bar. Not sure I agree with the comment about how low they hang. You will take out the skid plate way before you hit the tow loops.

Really depends on how hard you wheel. There are plenty of trails in Moab where I would have taken those clean off. Since OP is sticking to fire roads that shouldn't be an issue.

If I really get into crawling etc, I’ll buy something to build into a dedicated crawler. The other option is to buy another RZR and have an off-road buggy for the sand and desert. Already have the enclosed trailer to haul it.

I had a two-seat xp900 and enjoyed it, but the better half wants a four seater so we can haul the mutts too.

I used the first generation Maximus-3 loops on my previous Gladiator with a Blue Ox towbar. There were problems with the 1st generation. Bending, Jeep frame damage. M-3 changed the design and added a tie rod to the system. Lots of info about this on the forums. I wasn't happy and didn't like the tie rod. Went with Roadmaster direct connect with a modified winch plate on my JLUR. Works great and they don't hang down as far.
