Fender Flares necessary or should I remove?

I am a new jeeper and just purchased my 2020 JLU sport May 2020. Love it!
I do some weekend off roading in FL with sand and what not. Can I remove my dirty plastic inner fenders and leave them off? I am too cheap to buy nice replacements but wanted to know if I could damage inner parts if I leave them off?

Others will know better than I about the mechanical stuff. But, do check the laws in Florida (Or other states you drive into) to see if the vehicle meets requirements without the flares.

Edit: strike my post You are only talking about the inner part....... sorry.... never mind...

well if your inner fenders are that dirty thats all going to be all over your engine bay if you remove them. I'd say they are doing their job.

They have a very LOGICAL PURPOSE--why would you want to remove them--?

No weight savings/no gas mileage advantage and as said--if you remove them, you'll invite TICKETS and complete disaster to the engine/fenders-

I ran with no fenders with my JK for about a year. But I avoided mud. And rain sucked. It was good for the rocks, and it looked neat. But it was not a viable solution long term.

Yes. All that sand you're intending to play in will get kicked into the engine bay, onto the belts/pulleys. I have seen plenty of folks have to replace their idler pulleys when they went into muddy water that was too deep, didn't get into the intake, but got into the main pulley and damaged it. And sand gets EVERYWHERE, it will lodge itself between parts, and the vibrations of the vehicle will cause scratches that will eventually lead to rust.

Yes, you want to leave the fender liners on. Especially if you drive on the beach; it will help keep all that salt from getting into the nooks and crannies on the suspension, frame and engine compartment.
