The intake is not installed at the factory. The sticker does not say "Factory Installed". It is installed by a vehicle processor as part of a pre-delivery inspection prior to the vehicle being transported to the dealership. They do not cut into the hood. I know someone who does this for a living. He installs optional accessories (that don't require any type of cutting to the body) and inspects/repairs damage prior to transport.

The OP will need to ask the dealership if they will cut the hood and install the vent.
Got it, makes sense. Doubt the dealer is going to do that but will make the ask if I move forward with the vehicle.

So that answers the question on how these come with the $525 option. The lid and intermediate pipe are very easy to install. Your essentially paying $200 for a 15 min job.
I just purchased the kit from the dealer, however I’m hesitant to install the vent due to the warning on the box. Why would it have this crazy warning If they are being sold And installed as a factory option?

Sorry to resurrect the dead here, but is there a consensus on if it's necessary to so the hood cut out? Or can you still benefit from the system without doing the cut out?

Any further information. Was the hood cut? Does it work without the hood cut. Is it worth buying.

I have the factory CAI. I drove it for a while with the new intake tube without the hood cut out, and then I cut the hood. There is a small noticeable difference. It's not a true CAI if it pulls heat from the engine and not the outside.
would do it again, but that's just me. To each their own

I've been casually looking at the standard air box intake path. It looks convoluted and could use some help. I'm just not big on cutting the hood nor the lack of water collection/drainage for the "CAI". I think there can be some modifications to the standard box air path to improve flow before it gets to the box itself. Will it make any practical difference? Unlikely it would be detectable. More feel good stuff I guess.

I did the complete CAI a year ago and have no regrets. The fake vents on my JLR bugged me so much I swapped hoods with a Sahara owner. One of my favorite mods plus the $500 cash the Sahara owner gave me bought the CAI.

Does the back of the hood sit up that high all the time?

lol, you cut the hood, but couldn't be bothered to trim the inside of the factory Rubicon vents in order to make them funcitonal?

At highway speed those vents would probably flow inward, and at low speed, outward. LOL.

There is a factor to vent covers called clear area. I didn't do the math but the easily available clear area in the OEM hood vents did not seem to be worth cutting them open and cutting the sound liner. There is a water intrusion issue with vents on top of the hood being cut out. Someone found one one-way fabric with openings smaller than a water molecules to keep the water from entering through the OEM cut out vents. That materials restriction of air movement pretty much closes the clear area the vent openings.
I raised the hood hinges without any modification to OEM parts and the clear area of the opening is nearly as big as removing the OEM vents entirely.
Remember the old Z28 hood scoops that were backward? That worked because the windshield created a high pressure at the hood in front of the windshield. Our Jeeps have such an upright windshield, that at freeway speeds, the high pressure is greater. So jacking the hood hinges up was probably working as an outlet at low speeds and at freeway speeds, it was probably pushing back in. Or maybe just a wash or close to it.

Probably a liability or legal issue, lots of after market products have that sort or label, lights, performance parts, exhaust, oversize tires. Bumpers, anything that changes how the manufacturer engineered the vehicle.

Does anyone have a part number for the hood vent for the CAI?
