Although I'm ordering a 2 door and I've heard they don't make them right away either? Is that correct? I have a feeling I'm going to be out of a primary vehicle for awhile longer!!
I think the 2018s was the only year (and the initial JL year) where they only did 4 doors for the first 3-4 months, it may have been longer. I ordered a 2019 (in summer 2018) 2 door and I think it took around 6 weeks after they started to build 2019s. Someone else I know ordered a 2 door in the Spring of 2019 and he got it two weeks later.

Hi there

I am planning to buy my new wrangler before the end of this year, thinking to get the Sport model 4-doors, but very confused about the exterior color. I would like to hear your opinions and preferences to help me choose better. I am a 40-year-old Male and want to use the Wrangler for casual use.

Colors: Sting-Gray, Sarge Green, Billet Silver, or Granite Crystal.

I feel the Granite might be too dark though.

thanks
I always find color selection to be an interesting topic......... so using @rent's spreadsheet of Xtreme Recons ordered I did a little "breakdown" (keep in mind that some colors such as Hellayello and silver may not have been available). So here is how the colors broke down on that spreadsheet"
Grey = 9 each
Snazzberry = 5 each
White = 5 each
Granite = 4 each
Green = 4 each
Blue = 3 each
Red = 3 each
Black = 2 each
Gecko = 1 each
Tuscadero = 1 each
No real meaning to this........ but I wondered if this might be a representative sample of overall Wrangler - if not Rubicon - orders? Or perhaps the various models vary widely from this?

Doubt it is representative.

The two predominant colors are black and white, followed by silver and the various shades of gray.

Yes, I’m sure factory orders play a role. Also, I’d expect Xtreme Recon buyers to have higher concentration of entusiasts, at least at first, who are more likely to order unique colors. As the novelty factor wears off, buyers tend to gravitate back to “safe” colors —i.e., black, white, silver...gray.

For sure ! Every time I pull up to a crowded intersection I take notice of all the vehicles sitting - and they are 90+% Grey, Silver, White and black !

Why do you say "safe colors". Not being a smartass, just wondering.

Because people who are afraid to stand out, or can't make up their minds, usually pick those colors.

I've owned white, silver and gray vehicles in the past. But only after I couldn't get the color I really wanted.

I almost bought a used JTR over the weekend mainly because it was Gobi colored. I wasn't impressed with them in any other color.
If it wasn't so grossly overpriced it would probably be sitting at the ferry right now waiting for me to come home.

Depends...do you want to blend or be more individualistic.
If you want blend go with Sting-Gray, Billet Silver, or Granite Crystal.
Of the gray/silver choices, Sting Gray is my favorite.

Not sure about your statement regarding why people choose white, silver and gray vehicles. Most studies say that the safest (meaning more visible and generally involved in less accidents) vehicle color is white, followed by yellow.

Silver, gray and black on the other hand, tend to blend in and are considered less "safe" colors from a visibility standpoint. Again, studies show these colors have higher odds of being involved in a collision.

I choose white for the safety aspect along with the fact that white does not absorb as much heat. Also, KBB believes that all of these colors are potentially better for resale since they tend to not go out of style.

In the end, it's all a matter of personal preference and no amount of data can change that.

All 5 vehicles we have right now are white. ?

Yellow is consistently rated to have the highest resale, which surprised me, I just luv yellow and black.

And you are spot on with personal preference. ?

That’s fair.

I wasn’t speaking about “safety”, though, but about being a “safe” purchase decision. As in a low-risk color choice.

I actually like white; it tends to flatter the styling cues on most vehicles. But I live in an area that gets snow, and I had to be recovered once. Now I pick colors that can be seen from above. So, from that perspective, Firecracker Red is a “safe” color... ?

I understand where you are coming from. Yes, those are safe colors from that perspective. I used to be a yellow car person. Can't seem to break away from white now. I'm trying.

We had a black car briefly, very briefly.
HORRIBLE mistake for us.
