Narrowed it down to 2 lifts. Trying to decide between the Evo Stage 2 or Teraflex ST2 both 2.5" lifts. Ill be running the stock 33" tires for about 6 months then bumping to 34\35". Wont be doing heavy wheeling, may hit lighter trails in CO or Moab in the next year or so but not climbing walls. Mostly a street\highway daily driver. Anyone have experience with either or both on the JLU platorm?

I have the EVO 2.5" Stage 4 lift on a 2DR and back then you could order with the Fox 2.0 shocks. I think I'm the only one who has this lift. Seems like if anything it's more of a JT thing.

In comparison to my original Rough Country lift it's great. If I did it again I'd probably go MetalCloak.

Edit: FYI if you get the EVO track bars be aware the bushings might need to be replaced after about 2 years. Mine just wore out and I had to buy new ones to swap in.

Thanks! If I was doing more offroading, then MC would be on my radar. They recommend replacing the driveshaft on their lifts and really dont want to do that at this point. Not sure if it is a must on the 2.5. I know that with most 3.5 or higher, it is highly recommended.

For whats its worth, im an old guy with 50+ years of expertise with moderate builds for overlanding and rock crawling in the sierras (6 hour drive) .. my most recent Jeep builds started in 2018 JLRU with Mopar and factory Fox jeep 2 inch kit installed by the dealer.. long story short, after 5k miles all shocks leaked.. and years of chasing death wobble and fighting FCA at every step in the way..

Once i got past all the lemon law stuff.. it was back to basics, a couple of 2024 2 doors and studying the market.. lots of options, but if your trying to keep your Jeep to the basics I found Trail Recon you tube and my local club (Point Mugu CA 4x4) to prove and demonstrate the value of "matched" multi rated springs and shocks are the most important thing to consider, especially if you are often changing the weight - use case of your target operating environment (sorry engineering geek on display).

EVO with Kings and Terraflex a were my final down select as well, But Terra flex won me over on the multi rate springs, shock adjustability (I go from sand beach weight = 4k lbs to 5k lbs 2-week overlanding with M416 trailer), adjustable steering stabilizer and the hydraulic bump stops..

I did use the EVO lower control arms (LCA), as those are beefy and fix the death wobble (>5 degrees) at the recommendation of Go Big in Ventura CA (great team!)

FYI: no need to spend $ on a whole kit... LCA is all you really need with <3" lift and with Teraflex you will get an honest 12" travel thus 630 RTI rating.. only rock buggies go higher than that and i guarantee they spent more than me (<$3K)..

Whatever you decide will be great, i am sure.

Feel free to call if i can help or need to be educated, as there may be a better idea that i am not aware of..

The driveshaft will be fine. What requires replacement is when you fully droop the drivers front and have shocks over 28.5" long. This can deform the CV joint bad enough to sling all its grease out.

If you don't play in the really nasty stuff, there is no expiration date on a front driveshaft.

Metalcloak recommends it because their rocksports are 30.5" long fully extended.

The main reason you need to replace the driveshaft with the MetalCloak lift is because the Dual Rate springs have more flex/droop than any other brands and it pushes the driveline to its max. If you don’t plan on flexing the rig, you’ll be fine for a while. I have the 3.5” game changer on my JL and it’s AMAZING!

I have the Fox 2.5” lift with dual rate coils. Later on I added a set of MC control arms. Hindsight being 20/20…I’d gone with MC lift.

Shocks. Not springs.

TCogs1, my man. You pretty much answered my question and got me thinking in the right direction. I had originally posted a few months ago and asked if mixing and matching parts will be good to do. You gave me my answer on this. Now I have some searching and shopping to do. If you dont mind me asking, for the track bar, are you running both front and rear or just front?

I went with EVO, front LCA and drag link only.. all the other pieces are just fine.. and after running Fordyce last week it all worked very well.. Loaded to the gills for a weeks off grid camping, then when base camp was set up, i removed all the gear and hit and made every winch hill obstacle.. Fordyce trial in MHO, has the toughest obstacles i CA. Fordyce Jeep Trail, California - 70 Reviews, Map | AllTrails

My next thing to add back (was on my 2018 JLRU) is the Ram 1500 HD air springs to help with leveling, as you will see the 2-door is really weighted down and sagging, but when the weight is removed it is raked the other way..

You have arrived at the right 2 choices for a 2.5 coil on 4xe. Teraflex and Evo both invested in creating 4xe specific coil sets with its own part numbers and spring rates and did not just throw in existing coils and "hoped" it would get you same lift.

From what I gather, EVO is slightly higher spring rate to carry more load. Teraflex is slightly more road oriented with comfort in mind. Although Teraflex in recent times changed their 4xe recommended set on the rear - they are now using the higher rate overland 3.5 HD springs for 2.5 4xe.

If you are going to run linear valved shocks like Fox or King - choose EVO. If you are going to run regressive valve shocks like Falcon or Bilstein better to choose teraflex coils.

Thanks for the input. The only thing I noticed about Evo is that they dont have a true sway bar disconnect except for the Rubicon knob. Unless I am missing something.

If you are trying to get a sway bar disconnect for your willys, there are multiple options there.. those are in no ways related to the choice of coils you end up choosing for the lift.

You could run @apexdesignsusa (Vendor) Auto Lynx system (I had those on my previous JLU Sahara). Or you could get a JL rubicon sway bar assembly on ebay with busted electric motor - add the EVO disconnect knob to that to basically emulate the setup on the rubicon.

I am not a fan of quick disconnects with pins - they gunk up, difficult to disconnect, some require cutting axle mounting brackets, and clatter a lot on road .. just a big no for me.
