Anyone have issues with the e torque or transmission slamming into gear from a rolling stop? It only really happens when I do a “California stop”, rolling through a stop sign. But man, it slams. I asked the dealer about it, dude was worthless said it was just normal to have transmission problems.
He also told me the excess soft top rattling was normal so…..

I have a 2022 JLUR 3.6L auto with Etorque

I have something similar with mine, also 22 JLUR 3.6L auto e torque. It doesn't slam for me, but it definitely shifts hard. I just assumed it was something the transmission isn't natively good at. It almost feels like it gets confused, then tries to make up for it.

I could very well be wrong on this but from what I’m sensing you’re talking about is possibly the start-stop system kicking in then instantly back off as it’s possibly having a hard time determining if you are or aren’t actually stopping due to a rolling stop that’s just enough to fool the sensor. If that makes sense.
If that is the case then yes depending on how fast it shuts off then immediately back on can cause a heavy jolt. Also because you do have the etorque a proper full stop braking is best due to the fact that the etorque battery os recharged through regenerative braking. Just FYI…

Can’t help you on the soft top issue.

My automatic downshifts promptly when I slow down the vehicle, and holds the gear until I accelerate. The shifting is noticeable but smooth.

This responsiveness is a feature I like and appreciate on this transmission.

A transmission slamming through the gears doesn’t sound normal, though.

How many miles? It might take time to “learn” your driving style.
I’m fairly sure my wife’s auto wants to throw me out of the cab. Apparently our driving styles are not comparable. I lug her engine because I’m not aggressive enough on the throttle. The truck shakes something fierce when going uphill when I’m driving.

I haven’t experienced this yet and I hit a lot of stop signs on my way to work. I have a 21 with ET. The star stop doesn’t activate unless I fully depress the pedal.

Yea you pretty much nailed it. It seems like it wants to shut itself off, but then doesn’t and gets confused, and jumps.

Mine doesn't so this. Smooth as butter.
Yeah mines smooth as butter too but I can trick the system to make this happen and do the buck/jerk thing. I don’t Cali-roll at stops and found this flaw only by accident. Took about 3 weeks to get it down perfect to happen. I’ve reached out to Jeep engineering and nobody apparently wants to listen.

Well at least I’m not alone here. Thank you!

I think the solution is to trick the system by actually stopping at the STOP sign.?☕??

Interesting. Maybe I'm just getting old and light on the go pedal. I wonder if gearing somehow plays into this, as well. With the 4.56s, I find the transmission never really gets strung out or laggy. Just click-and-go.
