I know some of you would be happy to have this happen, but I am not sure what to expect next. My ESS (auto stop/start) stopped working all-together. I do not have it turned off with the switch and have not done any of the "hacks" to make it stop working. I can push the brake as much as I can and it will not engage/stop. As I said, that may be a blessing for some, but it is a little unsettling for me. No cel; no warning messages; nothing. The ESS just stopped working.

Has anyone had a similar issue? Anything I need to check before taking it in to the dealer to check out?

I would wait; Just from what I read on the internet (Yeah, right) actually on this forum. There are an easy dozen parameters that must be green before ESS works. I have read they include things like reached set temp in cabin, and other arcane things. Try a search here. Hopefully others more knowlegable will comment. Good Luck.

I saw a video by Jeep saying you can call up the ESS screen in the dash and it will tell you what conditions are not met.
Exactly. With no CEL light, scroll thru the screens and find out exactly why ESS is not ready.

If it's not working in all the situations that you know it used to, then it's 99% one or both of your batteries.

I found if I put a trickle charger on the system overnight it would magically start working again for a week or two, then stop.

I started with the small one, and that did not help. Replaced the main battery and now it's working perfectly and has been for over a month. It should be noted that no errors or messages displayed on the dash (other than Stop/Start not ready) and both original batteries tested out "good" at the auto parts store when I took them back for the core.

If you take it to the dealer with no errors and the batteries test "good" they probably won't do anything about it. It was just easier for me to replace the batteries myself and not make multiple trips to the dealer, get rides to and from, etc.

Your mileage may vary, but I'd suspect you have one or more weak batteries that's the root cause of your ESS problem.

When mine was acting up, the screen just said "Start/Stop Not Ready". It wasn't terribly helpful in tracking down the issue in my case. :)

I have had the same problem. My 2018 Jeep JL has had more issues than my Toyota 2005 Corolla. I regret my purchase and will never buy a Jeep again

Mine is not even bothering to display "Start/Stop Not Ready" anymore. That screen is just blank. I'm taking it in tomorrow for the Y95 recall so I'll see if I can get them to look at that as well.

Yeah, it was actually searching for info about the aux battery that led me to these forums. I'm pretty sure the dealership will try to sell me batteries tomorrow but I'm already aware of how much they could cost if I do it myself.

I have been fighting with my dealership to get it resolved. Theybsay I do not drive it enough to get the batteries charged. They replaced both batteries and told me I should drive it every day on bighways for 20 minutes otherwise batteries will die. I tested the batteries each one alone and they are very good (12.3 V each). My alternator was charging at 14.5 V when driving (what shows on the dash). I did what others recommended on this forum "ensure fuses are pushed down to the max", reseated the IBS sensor, and replaced the relay for the ESS K01 with the spare one K05 and guess what???? I am going tomorrow to the dealership to get a new relay instead of the defective one and keep it as a spare. I know lots of you want to disable ESS permanently but if you want to get it fixed you might want to try swapping K01 with K05 and see what happens.
