ESS issue

My ESS is inop but not complaining, but its been this way for over a month with no codes or lights on the dash, every thing showing normal in dash windows. Any one else seen this?

Lucky you, I have to push the button every time. I believe there are certain circumstances where it won't activate one of which is if it is cold out and you have the heat set on a high temp. I see your in FL so that may not be the issue, but if you have the heat cranked in a month long cold spell that could be it.

No heat or air, great temps here, drove 200 miles a couple days ago , interstate, no ESS!

You have a 2018 JL. Your warranty is for 3 yrs. and 36,000 miles. You are undoubtedly past or near the end of your warranty period.

Something is wrong. Chances are extremely high that one of both of your batteries have issues. Florida locale you live in is very hard on batteries...

With your having a 2018, and the way the 2018 handles a dead or iffy ESS battery, it is just a matter of time before you are left stranded with a no start situation.

With that said... save your energy so to speak and get your 2018 JL to the dealership Service Department, asap. Do so now while you have warranty coverage...

@FWB FL the FCA design of their dual battery system is sub standard at best, the ESS screen should give you some type of message on why ESS is inoperable

Here is some info from the manual, also if the ESS EVIC display advises not ready due to battery charging not a good sign and as stated if under warranty have dealer address after addressing since it’s a 2018 as stated you can have the TSB applied as @Rhinebeck01 advised and this will address the issues if the ESS battery dies and it won’t leave you stranded, there are lots of additional options one can take to address this poorly designed system once its up and going and a simple search will divulge lots of options and you have to decide what works for you.

Yes, often the wipers, dash lights going crazy, etc., are what you are faced with when there are battery(2) related issues with the JL/JT..... but such telltale signs don't always exhibit themselves..

Guys mean well here, but the best advice anyone can give you.... especially, since you are near the end of your warranty period is to just go and get the JL evaluated.

Again, chances are very high you have a battery(2) related issue..... especially since you live in Florida (hot year round temps)... and since your issue has been going on for a month you say...

I know, I for one, try to avoid stealerships and usually encourage other's to do so, to do oil changes and such yourself.......but with issues related to electrical / stock batteries, most guys and gals are just better off letting the dealer address issues under warranty...

Also, as mentioned, since you probably have a 2018 (which has not had TSB 18-092-19 completed) you are at greater risk of being stranded, thanks to a bad/ depleted ESS battery and a no start situation, then a guy with a 2019 or newer JL.
