I recently regeared my JLUR to 4.88 and ever since my ESS warning light comes on after I shift into 4th gear (I have a 6 speed). One the light is on, the ESS does not work. Shutting off and restarting resets (ESS works) until I hit 4th.

I have a Superchips Flashcal and that had no effect on the issue. To be clear, the issue was there before using the Flashcal (and after).

Who else is having this issue? Any resolutions?

Regeared mine with 4.88’s and have had no issues but mines an automatic. Reset computer with Tazer.

Has anyone regeared a manual and calibrated with a Tazer? I'd like to hear from you.

So crazy stuff here. I finally installed 37s and recalibrated last night. The issue went away. That points to a possible issue with software not liking 4.88 gears with a 33" tire. Maybe it falls outside of some acceptable parameter throwing the fault.

Either way, it seems to have resolved itself now that I have 37s.

Nice! I’m just waiting for ARB to release their locker for the m220. Which they told me will be hopefully before summers over.

How do you like the 4.88’s? I am staying on 35’s but still doing 4.88’s.

I am liking them. With the extra weight and size, they are feeling really good. Won't know the details until I hit a trail in the coming week. Then I'll know for sure. I am @ 2,000 rpm when doing 63 mph. I think I am around 2,700 at 80.

Is your jeep a automatic? If so have you gotten 8th gear back.

Any more updates on 4.88's with 37's? 8th gear back, better trail performance, better mpg, etc?

Anyone with an 8 speed want to comment on RPM at 80mph with the gears?

Thanks!

I don't have an auto. It's a manual.

Hit Rausch Creek for the Tatas event and ran green, blue, black, and a red. Ran like a champ. Plenty of comments that I make it all look easy. Wasn't me. It was all the Jeep.

Performance was awesome, except that loud fan which annoys the Hell outta everyone. MPG is hovering around 16.7 for daily driving.

Awesome wheeling pics!
I too had the dreaded ESS warning light come on above 40-50mph when I switched to 40's and the stock gears(No problems at all with the 37's.) I have a set of 5.13's on the way which will hopefully remedy that issue and more importantly let me use 5th and 6th gear again.
