Take a look at the first post in this thread. Some time in 2021 they changed the two ground cables, that is what requires these adapters.
I know about the change but I have seen people with ‘22 models just bolt down the larger connector to the smaller terminal without doing anything and it works.

Sorry, yes you can do that as long as you’re not also trying to connect a winch ground.

I have a 2021 (new style). Can I move the winch ground to one of the body ground connection points, so I don't need the non-stock looking connectors? (Jeep is still under warranty, I don't want to give them any excuses).

Thanks.

I don't know for certain but I wouldn’t try it. The winch pulls a lot of current and you’d be relying on all of the connections between wherever you connect and the battery to be sufficient.

My dash yellow service start/stop warning light popped on. I’ve been searching this site and YouTube to find a way to remedy this problem. Here is what I think might work, but I’m not sure?? See pictures.
1. Remove fuse 42 from fuse box.
2. Disconnect the aux cable from battery.
3. Unplug the left plunger under hood.
Thanks.

Yes, remove fuse F42 and then disconnect the Aux battery negative cable from the Main's neg side. Do NOT fool with the plunger. Leave the 2 plungers alone!

IF your Main is iffy, you will still see the Evic warning.

Older thread but just wanted to confirm that my March 2021 JLUR has the "new" cable ends as described in the OP ("A" with the wider plate and tall stud was the Aux).

Pulled fuse, isolated that wire and attached "B". Everything works normally. No dash warnings, ESS works normally should I wish it to but I use a s/s eliminator and keep it off.

I used an OBD memory saver (just a 9V attached to OBD), may not have been necessary but did not lose any vehicle/radio settings. Will probably do a full aux battery removal through the wheel well when weather cools down but for now it's just fine. For now I have not needed to change the main.

You probably have the new ends but a pic would be great to verify.

At some point (MY21?) a change was made to the ESS negative battery cables, swapping the cable ends between the aux battery cable and the body ground cable. This makes it easier to disconnect both batteries from body ground, but makes it more difficult to disconnect just the aux battery.

Here's the main battery negative terminal with the battery sensor attached and the cables disconnected.
Cable A old connects to the body ground, new connects to the aux battery negative.
Cable B old connects to the aux battery negative, new connects to the body ground.

With the old cables, disconnecting cable B disconnects just the aux battery negative. With the new cables, this should disconnect both batteries from the body ground.

With the new cables, removing both cables and reconnecting cable B (body ground) should disconnect just the aux battery.

That cable connected to the negative terminal, mines completely burned up and not even connected…I just noticed…
Any ideas on how to start to repair it? Or part#s

I have a 2021 (new style) and a winch. Is it possible to just buy another new style negative battery cable and cut off the aux battery cable at the connector and use the connector as a terminal extension, preserving the OEM look/connectors?

Anyone knows that part number? Thx.

(P.S. The only reason I don't cut the one on the Jeep is to preserve the option of reversing it to stock, in case a dealer bugs me)

The dang ESS Needs Servicing indicators came on for me, finally after about two and a half years and 24K miles. My problem today is that I'm over 1,000 miles from home and I don't need a dead battery over Thanksgiving Weekend. Picture below shows my field expedient repair, since I have a winch and want to retain some grounds that I have for other stuff. A quick trip to the local hardware store and I found a battery terminal with two accessory lugs, it doesn't have room for the odd Mopar electronic thingamajig that appears to just need two grounds so I took some wire and some lugs and relocated it under the unused aux battery connector. Zip tied and good to go. ESS no longer needs servicing.

One noticeable difference is that I have to hold down the engine start button on the dash for a good two seconds longer now, it used to be instantaneous before. Anybody notice that as well?

It appears you moved your IBS (Intelligent Battery Sensor) out of the ground path preventing it from collecting data. I don't understand what doing so has to do with preventing a dead battery.
