Then I guess they should not have rated it for 3500 lbs tow rate. And they don’t work within their “ parameters” as pointed out on this forum, overheating without towing.
If they had intended it as a regular tow vehicle, they would've upped the rating to 5000 lbs like virtually all other SUVs/medium sized trucks. Also as a Dodge/Cummins driver for the last 30 years, I know that I can't just hammer my trucks with a load over a grade and not be responsible for monitoring the critical temps AND actually backing off when they get too high. Its on me not to "over drive" the vehicle.

I bought this diesel jeep for the power to pull my UTV, it’s great on cool days and flat terrain but even on a cool day it will overheat pulling a grade at highway speed. I didn’t buy this to go up grades at a crawl. Very disappointed in Jeeps dismal cooling system. Yeah I know, I’ll be told to slow down blah blah. I’ve owned several diesel trucks and never had a problem. And then there’s the aux battery issue where folks are told to just put your Jeep on a charger at night. What the hell….I didn’t buy this to make up for Stellantis’s short comings.
this Jeep has turned into a love/ hate relationship.
How much does your UTV + trailer + gear weigh? Note that we don't have much headroom for additional weight when empty.

well we will have to agree to disagree. I just can’t accept making excuses for Stellantis’s piss poor designs and over rated claims, making it up to me to make up for them.

the short story is Stellantis/Jeep jammed this powerplant into an engine bay that can't accomodate the proper cooling capacity. Good thing it's a dream to drive when not pushing it beyond its' limitations...

Seems like if it was just a "space" issue, they would have the same problem with 392; which I don't believe they do. I think part of the diesel issue the poor tuning they use in the name of emissions. They run them lean in both the attempt to keep fuel economy up, and to reduce particulate output. Not necessarily just because of tailpipe output, but because of the damage done to the motors by the EGR systems. And the generalities of modern engines are to run them lean, hot, and at higher rpms to try to keep them running "cleaner". And let's don't discount the old "planned obsolescence" argument either....
