2021 3.0 Diesel error codes

Has any one run in to these error codes on their exhaust system?
I have a 2021 Wrangler with a 3.0 diesel engine and am getting engine error codes, now 3 different codes one after each one is repaired.
P2463 & p2459 7/11/24 Chrysler Jeep replaced the exhaust temp sensor and catalytic converter
P2002 (210 miles) 8/7/24 Fowler Jeep replaced Particulate Matter Sensor
P24B1 (25 miles) 8/10/24
I guess it's back to the dealer next week.

Any thoughts welcome.....

Hey Mark, welcome. I bet you're bummed with all these problems.

I looked up your codes from the interwebz:

P2463 "Diesel Particulate Filter Restriction Soot Accumulation." With stored code P2463, the powertrain control module (PCM) has detected a restriction (due to soot accumulation) in the diesel particulate filter (DPF) system.

P2459 “Diesel Particulate Filter Regeneration Frequency.” It applies to diesel-engined vehicles. There are two types of diesel particulate filter systems: active and passive. An active DPF system takes its input directly from the PCM and runs automatically while driving.

P2002 indicates a problem with the backpressure of a diesel engine's emissions system. This code is usually set because of issues like DPF failure, a leak in the exhaust system, and a faulty exhaust back pressure sensor.

P24B1 indicates a high voltage issue in a vehicle's particulate matter sensor circuit.

Questions:
How many miles are on the vehicle?
What oil have you've been using?
What kind of driving do you do? Example 30% highway, 70% low speed.

Thoughts:
An incorrect spec oil with alot of low speed driving would be really hard on the DPF and catalytic converter.

The last one may just be from them messing with the exhaust sytem so much.

Hopefully you have an extended warranty. I believe the emissions stuff is covered but you seem to be having terrible luck. I also have a '21 and feel like it's reliability could be better.

Thanks so much for the reply and thoughts.

Mileage is 21,747

I am not sure what oil was used last oil change. I am not sure when last oil change was done, so will do the 20,000 service asap.

We have only owned the vehicle since June 1, 2024. We drove the Jeep home from Ft Madison Iowa to Colorado all highway miles 900 + miles mostly on I70. Only a couple hundred miles around town. We took a short camping trip 100 miles round trip towing our square drop camper, mostly highway with a few miles off road. Next we headed to Utah on I70 all highway miles (250) when the first code appeared. We drove all highway miles on I70 after the repair when the second code appeared. Then only 25 miles in town after the last repair. So currently we have 86% highway and 14% city driving.

We do not have any extended warranty on the Jeep.

Sorry your experiencing these problems with your very recent purchase. It appears the previous owner may have had similar issues and just got out. Leaving the problems for someone else to endure. Any and all jeep service warranty issues/work should be available in the vehicle Vin history. Seems very far fetched that none of these issues were present prior to your ownership. These ecodiesels are so fragile. There are too many factors that may have led to this. From the previous ownership errors or unskilled/ignorant service technicians/departments. Love my EcoDiesel but would be very very skeptical of buying a used one or any vehicle without checking the full history of the VIN number. Me personally would walk away from this vehicle. Hoping the dealership will buy it back. They should seeing the problems started almost immediately within the first couple hundred miles of your ownership.

What oil is recommended? I drive about 500 miles a week, mix of freeway and back roads.

Was struggling with how to say what @Wrangler man did. Agree, somebody unloaded their problem. Unfortunately if there is any way to give the keys back you probably should.

I worry about parts availability if I’m lucky enough to keep mine through the extended warranty. Only one CIL recently but stories like yours seem too common.

What oil is recommended? I drive about 500 miles a week, mix of freeway and back roads.
The manual calls for an oil with Chrysler spec MS-12991. There is a thread pinned in the 3.0 section with approved oils.

I use Motul but a couple of used oil analysis show it fell below the viscosity range for 40 weight. I’d like to find something better but ability to find an oil is also a factor. I wish I had done a UOA on the Mopar oil to be honest.

IMO the diesel requires an owner to be more involved with the maintenance and service. I would suggest learning how to tell when your vehicle is undergoing a regen. It possible a relearning process needed to be done after last repair. Seems many mechanics don’t grasp the emission systems well enough. Check out a mobile mechanic in the UK on YouTube O’Rielly’s Autos. It will amaze you what can effect these systems from functioning correctly. I love mine but early on at 10k. Good luck and I think finding the right mechanic is the solution.
