It does not. For awhile it actually created discussion alongside childish bickering. But everything on this subject has already been discussed ad nauseum, so now it's just childish bickering and the forum pranksters. All these threads do now is make it more difficult to perform a productive search on the subject.

Which engine is better is a factor that we do not have the ability to quantify and test. What are the standards for "better"?
All we have are our stupid opinions and personal experiences. Since I have already replaced one 3.6 and have another one that doesn't sound great at 34k miles and I hope let's go before the warranty is out. I would argue that the 2.0 is better at this point even though my only experience with the 2.0 is 4k miles. But there are others who have had great experiences with the 3.6. so which is better? And better at what?

Now if the question is which engine produces more power? That can be answered.
Which is more fuel efficient? You have to believe factory numbers because everyone here has different experiences and that has been covered in threads just like this one.
Which is more reliable? Again you have to look elsewhere than a forum of discussion, maybe some jd power or consumer reports? I don't really know?

The obvious conclusion here is "NEITHER". Which is why the debate just keeps on going and hasn't been productive in seemingly years.

Precisely- and will continue with newbs looking to get their first and understandably having to choose between the 2 Base engines.
So long as a needed mid level about 400 lb ft engine option isn’t available.

IMO either. They both work fine as long as they work and both have issues. If I found a Wrangler with everything else I wanted and the price was right, I wouldn't care which one it had.

Well that doesn't help me make a decision. And the OP can read through our NEW arguments and experiences and figure out what he is comfortable with.

Hell my opinion on a lot things has changed including this topic. I would have said 3.6 all day long until I started having issues. I would not think to go back and try to update anywhere I said that the 3.6 is my obvious choice, but seeing this topic I would share my experience.

392s ain’t free of issues either. I work in auto salvage. 392s sell basically immediately, as well as 3.6s. I hardly see 2.0ts going out the door. Obviously that doesnt mean one’s better than the other but it’s pretty easy to tell what gets replaced more often, likely due to sheer numbers on the road

Subaru engines and transmissions. Doesn’t matter what
Honda 1.5t engine
Nissan CVTs, we can’t inventory them fast enough
mopar transmissions. Mostly 3.6 and hemi engines leaving both 6.4 and 5.7. We also do a LOT of charger/challenger rear diffs.
GM transmissions and ecotec engines
Ford 10 speeds and 2.7L and 3.5 ecoboosts
Any kia/hyundai drivetrain. Can’t inventory fast enough.

just what I see leaving, daily.

Good ol LKQ, lol
I used to be a body shop parts guy and talked to many a person at all of those. Stephen was my go to for a long time at LKQ before he quit then switched to Melissa, there was a dude with a dumb ass name that everyone liked that I had a ton of issues with.
