I'm convinced that people who claim to want that brown diesel wagon don't actually own a car and would hate owning said brown diesel wagon
They drive their mom's and it's the only way they can cope with the embarrassment and disgust that their dad is proud of said car.

Remarkable - already 5 pages, on one the most redundant topics there is,
Jeep Wrangler JL Engine decision EE6EAFFD-2CDD-4E9E-93F3-C202178D6002

But at least it’s now deteriorating off of “what engine?” 👍

There's no consolidating or killing these threads, so we might as well play along.

The V6 was recommended to me by a couple of Jeep owners. I therefore test drove three separate Pentastar-powered Wranglers: two with automatic transmissions, and one with three pedals. Each test drive occurred in mixed traffic and road conditions...meaning, that engine had about as fair a chance as I could reasonably arrange.

There wasn't a Love Connection, though. Not even a little. The engine just didn't impress, relative to its published specs.

Taking a big chance, I configured my factory order with the 2.0T, having neither driven nor even seen that engine in person prior to taking delivery of my new Wrangler.

The wisdom of my decision is validated every time I drive the Jeep. The GME-T4 in my JLU has been reliable and fun for 120K+ miles now. That's more than good enough for me.

If my experience was 180° different here, I'd say the same thing about the V6.

Is that true for everyone, or just the sour old gripes who have been on here since 2017 discussing JL's and are now bored of the chatter..... yet keep coming back for more? ;)

- Every single used 2.0T Wrangler I've seen has had oil leaks or other significant issues prior to 100k miles
lol, i'd say 90% of JL/WL 2.0s in existence start leaking oil at the timing cover/head junction point before 20k miles. just about every single one that comes into the shop is leaking from there. it's so bad Stellantis asked us to stop re-sealing them during inspections; they want a customer complaint before paying out under warranty. some just seep and some leak like a sieve

Maybe, a manual 2.0 Rubicon X 4 door is the only Rubicon X that can tow 5000lbs. Only 4 door Rubicons with factory 285/70x17 tires and 4:10 gears are rated to tow 5000lbs. The automatic Rubicon X includes the 35 Xtreme Package(35") tires, so no go.

Only the 4 door(Unlimited) has a 5000lb tow rating

The manual Rubicon X does not come with the 35 Xtreme Package, but the automatic does, so no go with the automatic.

The 3.6 requires an automatic to tow 5000lbs. The 2.0 is rated at 5000lbs with either transmission.
** Double check the hitch. Have to have a Class 3 to tow the claimed 5K but they for some reason don't put the class 3 on from factory.

No one cares about the hitch argument anymore. Those Wranglers are rated at 5000lbs. If you're worried about the hitch replace it.

Kind of funny that you complain about replying in a reply. A bit ironic.

Are there any mods on this site? Every. Single. Other. Forum that i've ever been on takes these subjects and creates stickies or pop-ups to ward off the creation of more threads on same. This is the first i've ever seen that does nothing.

It's something that is sorely needed.
It creates more engagement when engagement is needed.

It does not. For awhile it actually created discussion alongside childish bickering. But everything on this subject has already been discussed ad nauseum, so now it's just childish bickering and the forum pranksters. All these threads do now is make it more difficult to perform a productive search on the subject.

Nobody in the history of forums who has ever needed to ask people their opinion on what engine would be best for them has ever used a forum's search function.
