You misspelled diesel noises.
No, that was discontinued because it was too fat

Side note, I remember back in the day when the JK got the 3.6 in the midcycle refresh and people were reviewing it. Someone straight said "The 3.6 sounds like a diesel in a good way" on the JK forums back in the day. Never lol'd so hard.

LOL It was the casting sand filled coolant system option that piped in the diesel sounds.

It's pretty bad when the turbo gasser makes better diesel noises than the diesel option.

It's also sad when the NA 3.6 makes better turbo sounds than the stock 2.0 turbo. My 3.6 whistles like a mofo under moderate and hard acceleration.

No, no, haven't you paid attention to the other 3.6/2.0 threads? The 3.6 ROARS under acceleration, like an aroused wildebeest!

The 3.6l couldn't sound LESS like a diesel. I mean it doesn't sound good, but it doesn't sound anything like a diesel.

Also, I can't hear the turbo over the alternator whine on my 2.0t.

Oh come on, you can't even hear the alternator with the decel actuator arm rattle, get real

They are both fine choices with their own quirks. Both do the job well. The 3.6 is smoother, the 2.0 is peppier. The 2.0 has nagging minor issues that everyone has to address at some point. The 3.6 is the intake cam lottery. It probably won't lunch an intake cam/lifters, but it might. Luckily it's not that expensive to fix and most shade tree mechanics can do it themselves if it's out of warranty.

I vote V8, 392 if you plan to tow.

It also requires premium just like the little 2.0

I'll be honest, I do believe if you can work on a 3.6 you can work on a 2.0 or vise versa. They're both a pain in the ass with all the tight quarters endemic with modern engine bays.

Also, FUCK whoever designed that intake manifold on the 3.6. Having to take that shit off just to do spark plugs or deal with the stupid oil cooler is such a pain. But, it's doable. Figure it's probably analogous to some of the less fun jobs on the 2.0.

Unless your coolant system is more sand than coolant and it's cooking itself from the inside out. This was the early 3.6 JK lottery.
