I’ve noticed the emergency brake is making a loose sound. There is also a clicking/ pop noise while engaging it towards the end of the pull up motion. Any ideas what is the cause since the dealer advised all is normal operations (it’s still under warranty)?

Looks like it needs adjustment. I'll see if I can find the pix of what's under the console.

So, in reading my service manual, it appears that they are seeking to adjust until just zero any play in the lever. Since yours has a lot of play, it appears that adjusting it is what's needed.

You might also try driving about 10-15 mph and yank the parking brake to see if both rear wheels lock up. You are looking to see if you have enough brake lever travel to lock the brakes and that both cables are connected to their respective brakes.

If you want to adjust it yourself, I'll post all the steps. You have to remove the console to adjust it. It's not a great deal of work, but it requires removing the shifter knobs, top cover of the console and side bolts. You don't have to remove the front seats.

There is a way to adjust parking brake without taking apart the entire console. There are a few videos on YouTube that can assist you with this. You remove four bolts from console, lift entire console up and prop up, and then tighten bolt with 10mm socket with extension. The far left and right are cables, make sure they are seated properly. If so tighten middle nut to adjust.

This is the way, super easy if you have a 4 door. Still easy if you have a 2 door.

Yeah, still kind of silly to have to go thru all that to adjust a parking brake. Shoulda just been popping a cover.

I completely agree. The aux battery swap process is extremely silly as well. At least you can do the fender trick though.

Can this issue progressively worsen?

It’s a parking brake, not an emergency brake, and you have an automatic so it’s basically pointless.

Super easy to adjust, pop two bolts out of back side of console with little black covers over them, prop up case and stick a 8” extension with a deep socket in there and adjust. Just did this yesterday after an axle swap.

Why is the dealer stating”normal operation” when it’s obviously not. I’m still under the 3-year warranty, so I want it fixed before it’s expired. It’s. documented on the last service order of customer concern e brake noise, so hopefully at a later date the repair is done if it worsens. I might call Jeep customer service directly to escalate my concern.

It’s just one of those things that doesn’t matter at all and is normal.
