Aside from the fact we most agree the ess function sucks along with having caused aux battery issues.
I wonder how much if any damage it can cause on turbo wear.
turbos require good oil and oil pressure for lubrication and cooling At it’s bearings.

not unlike a short idle to cool off after a taxed drive or few minute warm up before heavy loads when cold.

what happens every time ess shuts down the engine, turbo looses oil psi as it spins down. But suddenly engine starts back up now agin causing turbo to spin back up to speed after moments / minutes of lack of pressurize oil to its critical bearings.
wonder how much added wear ess adds to life of turbo 🤔

The JL turbo is water-cooled, and the coolant continues to circulate during an ESS event.

The turbo only makes boost while the engine is under heavy load. Unless you're slamming on the brakes and smashing the skinny pedal while commuting, the turbo should theoretically have some time to spool down/up before/after an ESS event. So, under reasonable conditions, ESS likely wouldn't add significantly more extra wear to a turbo than it does to other oil-lubricated engine parts.
