my own common sense laws. I don't want to hit a bump and break that glass all over the freeway when the glass hits the back wheel. Then again, that's my own common sense :)
Yeah, that's my bigger concern over the exhaust too, is breaking the glass via whiplash from a pothole, speed bump, etc. I was reading in a different thread how someone broke their back glass during the hard top removal process and they were told it would be several months to get the replacement glass.

ok c'mon, realistically - if the vehicle is moving, I'm pretty sure the oxygen/CO ratio is safe enough. I had a 4runner and the back window rolls down. I used to cruise with the back down and the sunroof open and it created a pretty nice airflow. Did it smell like CO? yea, at times when flooring it. But did you die? Nah.

Unless you are parked inside your garage with the car running and the back window is open, you will live.

Drive your jeep as you please! We are all going to die one way or another. Enjoy your Jeep and drive it with or without any window of your preference. Mechanically, the vehicle will be ok.
Wow! Someone with common sense. Some of the responses from people on here about “it’s not safe!” Just wear me out. Live a little bit. Everyone on here is grown! I had a 4Runner for years with the back window down and never had a problem.

I'm talking about the soft top. I rode with just front doors off today and my passenger side rear almost flew off. It was flapping in the wind.

CO levels from the tailpipe of modern, catalytic converter-equipped cars are not going to hurt anyone if the car is moving. CO fear is a holdover from the 1970s.

The exhaust pipe is low. To enter the cabin, the very small fraction of exhaust that rises to the top of the swing gate is going to have to mix with several times its volume of clean air. Anyone worrying about this is wasting their time.

I have similar concerns...

I just switch tops to the soft top. I don't feel that the back side window hard plastic corners "snap" in as I have seen in the demonstration videos. The very back window seems to hold the edges of the two side windows in.

If I remove the back window completely, open all 4 door windows, and put the top in sunrider position, will I risk having those back side windows come loose and fall off?

They will fly off. There's nothing keeping them latched or zippered in.

I do doors off and just leave the top up with the back/sides off. This seems to work well. I wish I could leave the back rolled up like my previous Jeeps, but that's not possible with the way the back window is built.

That’s what I figured, thanks for confirming.

Yep. Pretty much... I drive with mine (hardtop) open all the time. I wouldn't run it with the garage door closed though!!!

I haven't lost my side windows yet. I have driven at least 200 of my 3800 miles with the sunrider back, back window out and side windows in. They snap in pretty tight on my Jeep.

Really? Mine don't snap in that tight. I'm kinda jealous.

I was debating drilling a small hole in the plastic piece on the back bottom and putting in a pin to hold them in place.

I literally have to give a good pull to pop mine out at the bottom. Might mention to your dealer on your next visit. My passenger side clip on the rear window tailgate bar just pushed in and would not "snap" in like my driver side. Dealer replaced the tailgate bar and the piece it snaps into for good measure.

my driver side rear window won't stay in on it's own either. The passenger side...perfect. Has to be a defect. Maybe related is that when all the soft windows were out, with the top in safari style, I was getting rattling at the c-pillar of the door surround. I found that it didn't sit firmly on the body of the jeep and the positioning screw would move around in the hole on the body and make lots of noise! I ended up taking the door surround apart/off and put a piece of foam in the hole so it wouldn't rattle. It still doesn't sit firmly on the body but it doesn't make any noise. My top just isn't right. Going to the dealer tomorrow about my steering issue. I'll have them look at all this too.

Hi prw04 and smuddy,
We're glad you reached out with this. We would like to offer our assistance, while you are working with your dealers on this. Please send us a private message with additional details if you have not already.
