Family vacation in the Outer Banks and I must say it is cool to see all the Jeeps and Broncos running side by side. My wife snapped a pic of me at a light with a 2022 Eruption Green Bronco 2 door. Looked nice.

My favorite place to go! We'll be out there in October. What part are you hanging out in?

Around Waves, getting ready to grab a ORV permit for the rest of the week. Know any good ORV trails on the area for a family?

Pretty much any of the ramps down there are great to explore. I've typically hit random ramps between Salvo and Hatteras Lighhouse. I also enjoy going to Carova Beach north of Corolla where you can see the wild horses.

I forgot to mention that when you go out there to take stuff to keep you hydrated. No restrooms and no lifeguards out there. Park rangers and the Sheriff do patrol out there.

Cool thanks. Just bought the permit. We're around Waves so we're going to stay basically local. Hoping to have some fun with the kids.

Forgot to mention taking the ferry to Ocracoke. Down there I've driven on the first ORV ramp you'll see on the left very soon after getting off of the ferry. Not as many people down there when we went.

Just wash it good when ya get home, including the undercarriage. Salt gets into a lot of nooks and crannies?. Have fun-get some photos of the wild horses?

I second the issue with Salt. Do not drive through saltwater puddles on the beaches if you can avoid it.

You're kind of in the middle of the outer banks. You could spend one day driving north to Corolla where the pavement ends and then it's about a 14 mile drive on the beach to the VA line. This is where the wild horses are. Then on another day go south and catch the ferry to Ocracoke island. The kids will enjoy both. Of course drive on the beach at Cape Hatteras. Have fun! Definitely carry water and snacks with you for everyone.

Also, Do NOT Feed the horses. They have patrols out on the beach watching for this. People have good intentions and want to feed them carrots, apples, etc., but that is not in their normal diet and it causes health problems for the horses. It's amazing, but they have survived there as long as people have with very little assistance. There are also horses on ShackleFord's banks, but a little harder to see.
