If someone is in an accident with the doors off, will justify being airlifted to the hospital?
If someone drives with no helmet in a state that allows that will it justify being airlifted to the hospital?
If someone works on their roof without a harness and they fall will it justify being airlifted to the hospital?
If someone is drunk and walks in front of a Jeep with the doors off, will justify being airlifted to the hospital?

The Jeep Wrangler is designed so the doors can come off. That seems to be a big advantage to many folks but when someone starts a thread to discuss wind affects at speed he gets hammered. I don't get why. It seems like many folks are just waiting in the wings for someone to ask a question they don't get and instead of moving on they feel compelled to belittle the OP. That is unfortunate to see on an otherwise great forum.

As a non-Jeep owner I found the question to be legitimate and the reasoned responses helpful. Discussing the reality of the doors off, especially at speed, and the effects of doing so is a topic I found interesting. Thanks to the OP for posting!
Nailed it. Some of the “get off my lawn” guys get bunched parties anytime they perceive that a new Jeep owner isn’t using their Jeep “as it’s intended to be used”. Some are more pissy and rude about it than others. Don’t let it bother you, tune it out but listen to them when they’ve got pertinent experience and information to share. There’s much to be learned if you ignore the insults and gruff demeanor and benefit from the practical experience when they choose to share it.

Clearly everyone except OP was well aware of exactly how strong crosswinds and buffeting could be at highway speeds in a naked Jeep and weren’t the least bit surprised on their first time. Lol.

In my LJ we've driven on some long high speed trips with the top and doors off. I had to zip tie down a few thing in the back to keep the noise down - like rear seatbelts, etc. But, sometimes, depending on the wind speed and direction, it is too much for my wife to handle.

No hat for me. And your hair takes a beating - Hat on the ready upon arrival.

Haven't even had a chance yet to get the top off our JL, but am curious to see how it compares. Need to get the project work in the garage completed so the naked Jeep has a place to go. Plus it has been raining so much here... I am itching though.

Drive it how you like it. There are days everything off is ok and days it sux depending on Texas wind here.

Sunshades help some of the over the windshield buffering.

It is a lot like the beating on a Harley with no shield. I'm used to it, park my ball cap between the seats and go.

Sunshade save the day most of the time. It is my way of getting the dog hair out of the Jeep.

Love the JK naked and waiting for a chance on the new JL.

Those are the same people that won't wave because you have an angry grille, or because yours isn't built for rock-climbing, or because you just aren't cool enough for them. Pay no attention to them, because the community may be better without the constant negativity and blasting.

I took the freedom panels out of the roof and all 4 doors off this weekend and loved it. Depending on crosswind, it can be pretty windy, but even then, it was more than ok with me. Doors off and radio cranked up completely changed my mood. :)

It’s hard not to make fun of the surprise at the idea. It’s not like being in a Jeep somehow. Isolated the laws of physics, if you drive 70 mph with no wind, you feel 70 mph wind blowing at you. The vehicle isn’t going to generate its own crosswind though, that’s just the weather.

I took the doors and the top off today, temperature was around 85°. I noticed my AC wasn't cooling the cabin as before. Should I be concerned? Take it to the dealer maybe? Would this be covered by the warranty?
If you end up going into the dealer for an inspection, let us know. We're available via direct message and can escalate a case for further documentation.

Ehhhh, I can see how it could be misread. When I take the top and doors off, I turn the AC on Max for the cool breeze, I wouldn't ever say that the AC wasn't cooling.

Finally, there is an advantage to losing my hair! "Jeep scalp don't care!"
We had a similar experience. Last week it finally was sunny and dry an in the low 60's so I took off the freedom top and front doors. My wife and I and 10 yr old daughter were about freezing to death by the time we got to our destination 20 mins later. But it didn't bother the teenagers (what does other than school, chores and other teenagers?). This week it hit 70. OK temp wise to drive in topless, getting a little warm when sitting still for long periods in traffic. I too was surprised at some of the cross winds even when driving 45 mph but like someone said, I'm hoping it lightens up a bit when I get the rest of the top and rear doors off this weekend. When it is cold or very windy, I just try to drive slower and take route with lesser speed limits.
When I picked up the high schooler yesterday, he said, "Doesn't matter how bad a day it was. Being picked up in the Jeep makes it all better!" :)
