So I bought this jeep like two weeks ago and the sills that round to the bottom of door area is scratch a good bit on the passenger side since my lady is 5ft 2, and the driver has some scratches yet I don’t believe I’m contacting the paint.

so firstly I just want opinions if it worth correcting said paint, obviously aesthetics matter but really I just don’t want rust and corrosion.

secondly is door sill covers even worth it because the pictures of them look like you could still scratch the rounded section.

to be fair the last two weeks of ownership I’ve been to countless trails already and I expect to scratch stuff but it’s not where I expected to find scratches.

Find if there’s a RetorFX shop near you; those guys work miracles with the clear coating. https://www.instagram.com/restorfx/

Then get a good set of sill guards. Don’t waste your money on the Mopar ones; they are too small and don’t protect very much. There is a bunch of aftermarket ones out there. I have the Quadratec guards; they work well.

Instead of sill guards, some people apply clear protection film to that area. Seems to work well as well.

Good luck.

Bushwacker makes some that go all the way down. Do a search for:

Bushwacker 14085 TrailArmor Rocker Panel
on Quadratec.com

Mine has now rubbed through to primer. You can see it even when the door is closed.
Wish I put a 3m film over it on day one. I'm not a fan of the plastic sill guards, my fix will likely
be skateboard grip tape.

Xpel PPF…it won’t cover up deeper scratches but will mask the lighter ones

Sill guards were
one of my first add-ons.The more coverage the better.

Pictured are rocker panels, not sills. The same solution for both area, though, I used 3M PPF.

I removed the rock rails and applied PPF down to the underside of the rockers, because even if you’re careful with feet, gravel getting stuck between the rail and the rockers is a given.

Thanks for all the advice! I ordered a set of sill guards and will be buying some 3M stuff that was mentioned.

I think I may have the modding Jeep addiction now but I’m not sure.. I spent a lot of money today. Lol
