My 2018 has the same issue. Purchased a paint warranty via the dealer... Now they tell me they don't do body work or paint and won't document the issue. I have to drive an hour to one that handles painting... It's like they want to run you around until the inconveniences make you not want to fix it.

Taking it elsewhere. Won’t trust the Jeep brand until it’s officially a recall and permanently fixed. The issue is also present in the Cherokees, in particular their hoods. FCA knows this, but won’t admit it. A recall is an admission and it’s not safety related. Guaranteed it affects the wholesale value from another brand.
I think until a new paint formula comes along that will cure this issue we'll not likely see an end to the problem. The main issue is that an aluminium primer needs to be put on prior to the paint. For Stellantis that would mean building another paint line, and if they don't have floor space, that would mean another building also.
To the best of my knowledge, bubbling paint on aluminium has been a Dodge Caravan hood problem for about 10 years now.

It's been a known problem in many places on our JLs since the first year of them.

Hinges mostly but it's possible on any panel also. My 2019 has had this on all door hinges, 1 door similar to the pictures and the leading edge of the hood.

The bubbling is returning on one door near the hinge that's been repaired about 2 years ago and appearing for the first time on another door.

How is that not becoming a recall or whatever they like to call it since it's a widespread paint quality issue?

In the past I've seen vehicles purchased back by the factory and owners given new vehicles over paint quality issues. Looks like quality and customer satisfaction gets trumped by corporate greed these days.
I have the same issues all the hinges on the door and all 4 doors bubbling. I also have bubbles on the hood and up by the windshield. They want me to take it 4-6 hours away to get it fixed at my expense and on my time. Will not pay the fees to be fixed and repainted in my hometown. Been fighting to get it fix 3 years now. There are over 10 -15 vehicles in my town with same issues. They like to push us off. Kind of a joke.

Luckily, my re paint was approved. Took 8 months…from the dealership playing dumb to finally an admission it’s a problem as the number of complaints piled up over the winter. The third party body shop did a fantastic job.
Unfortunately, no guarantees it won’t return. I’ve since traded that POS….(for other reasons also)

I've given up on the warranty coverage. I plan to have mine repaired by a local paint and body shop soon. It's not growing/spreading too fast, but it's definitely on all doors.

I look at Jeeps I park next to and always see this.

Too much for me to pay for. Would love too but it’s their issue and they can fix it. I will keep fighting. I paid good money for my vehicle and I should not have to pay for their shitty paint jobs. They need to buck up and deal with all the issues

Yes but it may happen again. I heard it was from the two different metals - steel hinges and aluminum door. Those to metals rubbing together. I would think that it would just happen all over again.

I have had the same issues with mine. Actually waiting to pick it up today. The problem is aluminum on aluminum without the surfaces being primed along with the seams. Even having it repainted it will come back. I have had mine painted for a fourth time. Hinges, over the windshield, hood and all doors. Thankfully each time it has been covered but very disappointing for sure. Jeeps aren’t cheap!

That's more than I could get out of them. It's a sad state of affairs with our warranty claims.

I am having the issue for a second time after the first fix. Dealership stated that they a new process from FCA on how to fix it. Not sure what that new process is. Sadly i am out of the corrosion warranty so filing a claim today and see if FCA will do a goodwill fix since it was done a year ago. We will see.

New process includes replacement of any panel that has corrosion on the hem flange (inside seam) instead of repair. Most of the people who had repairs done prior to 2023 just got a sand and repaint and that's why it came right back. Once it's in the seam, there is no fixing it.

So i called and i am 1 month out of the corrosion warranty - they told me no. so I am seeing about taking to someone higher up. Its a shame they wont help someone a month out of that time frame. @JeepCares - We will really see if Jeep Cares.
