I have a 2016 Jeep Wrangler Sahara Firecracker red. Always garaged. I noticed the bubbling probably 3 years after ownership, on every door hinge on the vehicle. I noticed because the paint chipped off one hinge exposing rust underneath. After closer inspection, it looked like all the hinges...
YES NOW THEY DO.... BUT LET ME TELL YOU.... YOU BUY A FIAT IN ITALY.... ITS COMPLETELY DIFFERENT THAN WHAT THEY SELL IN AMERICA.... I KNOW SINCE WE RENT THEM WHEN WE TRAVEL..... COMPLETELY DIFFERENT THEN THE JUNK THEY SELL IN AMERICA.... GO TO ITALY AND THEN WE CAN TALK SMART A##
STILL WHY IS THIS HAPPENING ON A 50 K JEEP? THIS HAPPENED ONLY A FEW YEARS LATER. JUNK I SAY. JUST BECAUSE ITS NOT ON THE BODY DOESN'T MEAN ITS NORMAL. I THINK ITS ALUMINUM VS STEEL LIKE MANY PEOPLE REPORT.
yup thats what I have except on the hinges. I wish I realized the corrosion policy. I took my dealships word for it that it wasn't covered the 3-4th year when I complained ... mine is a 2016 JKU
OH yes earlier. I have a 2016...... 50K bubbled paint now rusted areas...... rust started 1 year after I got the vehicle on the underside. American car what did I expect. My Toyota 4 runner after 12 years had less rust.
People like the JA that laughed is not a fellow supportive jeep owner. I guess he doesn't have rusted hinges or maybe he has a used jeep. Mine was expensive which I bough for beach driving and top off only. I do not off road. But I still would have hoped the hinges wouldn't have bubbled and...
Exactly..... I wanted a vehicle for open top, roughness and looks ..... Also 4x4 for beach driving. I'm not an off roader nor do I have to be one to own a jeep. Geeish.... I just wanted my 50K vehicle to last without bubbled paint and rust after a couple years.
I can buy a jeep for riding on a beach if i chose to do so or ride with the top off. So I don't off road big deal! I like a what i like big guy!
If you bought a Wrangler to keep it pristine, you bought it for the wrong reasons.
Nothing worse than a clean Wrangler.
If you hit the trails...
Mine too. I have a 2016 JKU Sahara. Looks brand new except the rusted hinges. Mine all bubbled 4 years after I purchased it for 50k. Dealership said it wasn't covered under warranty. Now I'm hearing some people as long as they are under 5 years they are getting it fixed. I am fuming.
Yes but it may happen again. I heard it was from the two different metals - steel hinges and aluminum door. Those to metals rubbing together. I would think that it would just happen all over again.
I contacted my jeep dealer 4 years after I bought it and they said they couldn't do anything. Now I'm reading that some people got theirs covered. I'm not a happy camper
My JKU is a 2016. I noticed the bubbling on the hinges maybe after 4 years. I only noticed since after a chip fell off there was exposed rust. I tried to get the dealer to fix it but they said it wasn't covered. Now I am really fuming to see this is a JEEP issue and I'm not the only one. Why...
Wow your lucky. My JWU is a 2016. I noticed the bubbling on all door hinges after 4 years. Always garaged over the winter. I called my jeep dealer where I bought the vehicle and they said they couldn't do anything. Now the paint has practically chipped off the hinges and exposed rust. Sad part...
