I picked up my Jeep again, why again you ask… on the way home the first time the belt shredded to pieces. Anyway, they ordered a new top after applying the TSB. They stated in the STAR case that they replaced the top with a known good one and it fixed the leak. They also stated the top on the Jeep is warped. Stalantis then allowed them to order the new top. Personally I ain’t buy in any of this nonsense. New top is due in 1st week of November. Dealer did not know if it would come color matched or not, really. To boot I will be out $300 for ceramic tint.

Jeep Wrangler JL Door/Freedom Panel Leak IMG_3410

Ordered some 2”x1/8” weather stripping on ol Amazon. Cut it to match the old weatherstripping. Cleaned old adhesive and applied new pieces.

No rain in the forecast right now. Letting the adhesive cure so that helps.

We’ll see if this fixes it when the top goes back on.

Little late to the party, but bending the door is generally the fix. Old mechanic showed me that on my first car, it was not raining in yet but was getting some whistle.

Curious how do you bend a door? Would it have to be repainted?

No just roll down the windows, rest the door on your hip, put one hand on the down section of the far corner of the window frame and the other hand on the top side of the corner and pull towards you whit your torso / push with your hips. You can also pull with your arms to assist. Don't go crazy, you just need couple of mm. For long door you may also need to pull the center top windows frame in the same fashion. Door slamming have a tendency to push back on the far corner windows frame. So the point is to bend it back restoring it original position. I suspect the clearance issue is is even worse on Wrangler because the top panel also move, so you can loose up the pannel and try to push it more towards the side and reclamp it down.

When i have the doors off, the way they are on the hangers I made, they automatically hang in a position that puts a little inward pressure on them. Not enough to actually bend them but to keep them from bending outwards at the top of the window frame. So they in theory are being pulled in a direction that would keep them bent inwards.

Went through a car wash today and no drippage. Just waiting for a good rain for now.
We’ll see

Dealer still screwing around with my Jeep. They replaced the entire hard top. Did not get a chance to test for water leaks, because I rejected it. The paint job I kid you not had runs in it literally everywhere. I really cant believe they send hardtops int primer with no windows, just insane to me. Any how back in a loaner, hopefully not much longer.
Pretty sure it is still gonna leak, the rear outside levers still had no tension on them And the panels were not even close to alignment with the hardtop.
The General Manager who is over 4 Stalantis dealers said he would make sure it is right - we will see

Just bought my first ever jeep (22 Wrangler Unlimited) and noticed a water leak in the same location as original post pics. I ordered new rubber/ foam seals from Extreme Terrain for my freedom panel but just in case those don’t fix the issue could you post a video or picture demonstrating? This sounds extremely helpful and I don’t want to mess up my doors lol. Thanks!

There is a couple of video on youtube about it, they do jam something in the door who is a other way to do it. Using you hip as a stopper make it tools free. Just make sure your glass is down when you do that and do not over do it.

My 24 has this exact leak but I bought the hard top used so it's not covered by warranty. My leak is clearly in the seal on the freedom panel where the foam has separated from the 90 degree corner of the panel. I can stick a small diameter rod (like a q tip shaft after you cut the cotton part off) in it which is the channel for water. Your posted fix in response #17 should fix it.

I've tried to order a replacement seal but they are on backorder according to my dealer. I've got the soft top on right now so this has fallen down my list of projects. Mine only leaks when it's raining pretty hard and either I brake or am going down a steep incline as the water has to be running toward the front of the wrangler.

Just took mine in last week for this among things. Might be a bit. Told them they have a month as I’m gonna be out of town for a good bit. Also possibly have jacked up doors. Front bottom corners on both doors you can see light come through.
