Door ajar switch stopped working

I have a 2019 JLUS and I’ve just realized that my Jeep does not know when the drivers side rear door is opened. The window and lock still work, but the dome light won’t trigger for that door. Does anyone know where the door ajar switch is located? I suspect it’s built into the latch mechanism assembly, but was hoping to get confirmation before i buy the replacement part and pull the door apart.

I realize I may have posted this at a time that not a lot of people were on the forum. Does anyone know exactly how the JL’s know that a door is open? I can’t find any part number for a separate door ajar switch. So is it in the latch mechanism?

Have you had the driver's door off and it's associated driver's door harness disconnected?

...IF so, you undoubtedly bent a connector pin when you re-attached the harness.

Harness can be disconnected like last time..... then you carefully bend the pin(s) back straight and then carefully and with proper technique reconnect the door harness.... and all should work aok then..

Same door latch quit working on mine. Repair part is cheap, repair sucks though. You'll need a very long torx bit to remove the door handle from the carrier plate assembly. I can't remember the size right now but there are some good youtube videos of it.

Keep us updated on what the fix ends up being. You’ve got me a little scared that it’s the wiring harness. Easy enough to check continuity on some wires but that repair would suck.

I forgot to mention - my Jeep is at the paint shop until Christmas having its corrosion on the doors and hood corrected. So I couldn’t fix the door ajar issue right now even if I wanted to lol. 84 hours of labor…. Luckily still under the corrosion warranty.

Yuup, doing the corrosion warranty in April. Not to impressed with the JL.

I am having the same issue. I have only had the doors off to be repainted. ( 3x Welcome to New Hampshire ). Does anyone have the part number for the latch mechanism? Its preventing me from using the Auto start and its kind of important here in the North East!

I got the sensor replaced under warranty. Try that route.
