Hi, can anyone who has installed a PSC steering gear box on their JL let me know if their remote starter stopped working. About the time I installed mine I now get two flashes but no start. I’ve replaced the main and aux batteries and use a Tazer. Is there something that needs to be configured in software to re-enable the feature?

Any Jeep techs have any insight if I have access to a Wi-Tech programmer?

Possibly unrelated, but iirc, the remote start will not operate if you're below 1/4 tank of gas. Might not be the issue, but just something simple to be aware of.

Hmmm..... I rarely can get my remote start to work, and I have a PSC SK500 steering kit installed, along with Tazer JL (obviously). I never thought it could be a culprit.

So I finally took some time to hookup my Micropod 2 and do some trail and error. I first removed my Tazer and used JScan to apply permanent changes, particularly deactivating the Electronic Power Steering. I also cleared all DTCs. I wanted to 100% take the Tazer out of the equation to ensure it wasn’t part of the problem. It’s not.

With my changes set, I got in with the Micropod 2 (device the techs would go in with) and under the BCM found all the diagnostics related to remote start. I looked at the list of inhibitors on TechAuthority service library and found my culprit. The reason, Left Rear Door Analog Ajar. I was able to view the sensor and it’s hitting 11+ volts and comes back as an open circuit. Essentially my Jeep thinks the door is completely removed.

I found a STAR publication about the front doors throwing an ajar warning, mostly folks bending or unseating pins in the connectors. Publication is here https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/2020/MC-10178657-9999.pdf.

I haven’t found any diagnostic publications about the rear. I’ve also never removed my doors. I looked at the wiring harness for the door and nothing looked out of place. Reconnecting did nothing. I found the wiring diagram for the door sensors to the BCM (in the passenger foot well area). I’m next going to check the connector inside the door itself after taking another look at the original harness. I doubt it’s at the BCM harness because it’s bundled with other wires and nothing else is throwing an issue.

Anyone with better ideas? I’ll paste the door schematics in a bit.

Found the culprit after a fun continuity test of the sensor wires for the failed door. Going to solder this back up, check the new voltage and state on the Micropod 2 and put it back together!

Did you find a reason the harness flexing?

General use and poor design is all I can figure. No kids kicking the wires here…It severed inside of the rash guard sleeve where the harness runs from the door to the panel by the driver seat. I’m surprised that the two wires for the sensor were 20 gauge compared to the others for the lock and window. Jeep also skimped out and didn’t wrap the wires inside the sleeve. After soldering and a heat shrink I put a protectant wrap over the whole bundle as an added measure. Hoping to not have to do any of the other doors.

Here's the complete list of remote start inhibitors for others having issues. You can match these up to any DTCs being thrown. Last resort, scan as I did for the specific inhibitors being thrown for the system. I can use my Micropod for anyone around Denver.
